The car pulled into the private estate, passing through strict security checkpoints before finally coming to a stop.
Alaina was invited inside and paused in the living room.
"Please wait a moment," the guide said politely, then walked over to report, "General, she's here."
Under Alaina's gaze, a beaming middle-aged woman holding the arm of a slender, elderly man came into view.
Although the old man's hair was gray at the temples, he radiated incredible vigor, possessing the commanding aura of a seasoned leader.
She didn't speak out of turn, simply greeting them politely. "Hello. Hello."
"Dr. Rossi, this is our General," the guide introduced.
"General," she greeted again.
"And this is the General's wife, Professor Eleanor Rossi from Upton University's literature department."
"Professor Rossi."
Professor Rossi smiled warmly. "Dr. Rossi, I didn't expect us to share the same last name. You look even prettier than your marriage certificate photo."
Alaina wasn't used to the sudden praise.
She figured Silas needed this marriage primarily to appease these two.
"Thank you for the compliment," she replied.
"Dr. Rossi, I apologize if we startled you by bringing you here so early," the General said with a booming voice, extending his hand. "Haven't had breakfast yet, right?"
Alaina shook his hand and shook her head.
"Then join us," Professor Rossi warmly invited her toward the dining room.
