Alaina was momentarily stunned.
Ethan had seen what she looked like when she loved someone deeply, when her eyes held a fiery, undeniable light meant only for the man she adored.
She was even more surprised that Ethan dared to speak to Silas like that.
She instinctively looked at Silas, trying to read his expression.
Silas remained unfazed, his hand gently guiding Alaina behind him, giving her a reassuring glance first.
Then, his gaze turned somber as it locked onto Ethan, radiating the inherent, predatory pressure of a man who considered it beneath him to argue.
He lifted his chin, his tone perfectly flat without a ripple of emotion. "Do not let this happen again."
"If you ever harass my wife again, don't blame me for disregarding the years of friendship between our families."
Ethan flinched, all the color draining from his face.
He clenched his fists, dragging back the last shreds of his sanity, and swallowed hard.
He forced a stiff, agonizing smile, cast one last glance at Alaina, and stumbled out step by step.
Michelle sensibly slipped away.
Silas dropped his icy glare and looked at Alaina. "If you want to give him another chance in two years, make sure he learns his lesson now. People only know how to cherish things after they've lost them."
Alaina furrowed her brows in disbelief. "Thanks for the advice."
With a cold glare, she brushed past him and walked out.
Silas watched her slender, defiant back, a dry chuckle rumbling in his throat before he leisurely strolled after her.
Back at the private room door, Alaina turned to him. "I'll just say bye to the team, then I'll come down."
Silas signaled for her to hold on. "I'm not here to rush you. I'm here for the celebration dinner."
Hearing this, Alaina froze in surprise.
"What, am I not welcome?" Silas asked.
