The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 196

Silas's palm traced the curve of her back. "I don't approve."

"Is it because of me?" Alaina asked.

"There are many factors involved," Silas replied.

Alaina couldn't help but say, "If it's because of me, I honestly don't think it's necessary. In two years, I won't be Mrs. Summers anymore. Ethan has to observe a mourning period, usually three years. In three years, the two families can formally unite, and the current awkwardness won't be an issue."

Silas tightened his arm, hugging her closer, his chin resting on top of her head.

"I get what you mean," Silas said, his tone heavy. He patted her back soothingly. "Go to sleep. I'll handle it."

Alaina smiled slightly, snuggling deeper into his arms. With her eyes closed, listening to his steady heartbeat, she soon drifted into a peaceful slumber.

...

The next morning.

When she woke up, Silas was nowhere to be seen, but she could faintly hear an argument going on downstairs.

Walking out of her room, she heard Lily shouting loudly.

"Silas, I truly love Ethan, and I love this family. Why do you have to force me to choose?"

Alaina's footsteps faltered, involuntarily stopping at the top of the stairs.

Silas's cold voice drifted up, carrying an unyielding edge. "You know that once I make a decision, I don't change it. Have you forgotten what I told you when we visited the cemetery on the Winter Solstice?"

Lily shook her head, sobbing. "I have to marry Ethan, but I still want this family."

"You can't have your cake and eat it too," Silas retorted coldly.
