The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 20

She couldn't help but give a rigid smile, suppressing the surge of irritation bubbling in her chest, and said, "I won't bother you any longer. Goodbye."

She turned around, only to see Zachary suddenly standing guard at the door, firmly declaring, "The Director hasn't dismissed you. You can't leave."

Alaina bit her lip, deciding to throw caution to the wind and lay everything out:

"I am not a spy. Your niece, Lily, stole my lithography research data. I came to see her entirely to settle this."

Just as she expected, Silas showed absolutely zero emotional reaction. His fingers tapped rhythmically against the edge of the desk, acting as if the sky falling wouldn't even warrant a blink.

After a long pause, he casually asked, "Couldn't reach a deal? Were you unsatisfied with the payout?"

Alaina frowned, stunned, feeling an overwhelming sense of disgust as if she had just been slapped in the face by sheer wealth and power.

"We couldn't reach a deal," she mocked unapologetically. "Because justice is priceless."

As her words fell, the suite grew unusually silent—the kind of suffocating silence right before a storm that made people hold their breath and skip a heartbeat.

"What kind of nonsense is that?" Zachary scolded disdainfully. "You clearly have no idea who you are dealing with, yet you dare declare war on Apex and Lockwood Holdings?"

He was right. Apex was owned by Lockwood, and Lockwood was owned by the Summers family.

For a nobody like her to deliberately antagonize a family backed by the Director of the Security Administration was basically a death wish.

But Alaina merely smirked, completely unfazed.

As someone who didn't even know how long she had left to live, she truly had nothing left to lose.

Swallowing this disgusting injustice just wasn't an option anymore.
