Lily Summers's eyes widened in horror as she choked back her sobs. "Ethan, I loved you so much. Why would you humiliate me like this?"
Ethan Harrington looked at her coldly. "We're even."
The next second, Silas Summers stepped forward, pulling Lily into his protective embrace. He shoved Ethan away, his voice dripping with ice. "Show them out."
Ethan stumbled back but caught his balance, staring at Silas with absolute defiance.
Fiona Harrington quickly grabbed Ethan's arm, silently pleading with him to stop causing a scene. "I'm so sorry, everyone," she quickly intervened. "Our mother's passing has hit Ethan incredibly hard. Please forgive his behavior."
"Mr. Summers, my apologies," Ethan's older brother added as he rushed over. The two of them hauled Ethan away.
Watching Ethan's retreating back, Lily broke down in hysterical tears. "Don't go! Explain yourself!"
Silas steadily supported her collapsing body. He leaned in and murmured, "It's over now."
Julian Rowe took hold of her other side, his voice gentle. "Let's go back to your room and rest. We can figure the rest out later."
The bridesmaids exchanged nervous glances. Nobody had expected the night to end in such a chaotic spectacle, but intimidated by Silas's terrifying aura, they didn't dare utter a word. They quickly scurried away.
Back in the room, Julian stayed with Lily to comfort her.
Down the hall, Silas and Mrs. Rosemary Rowe sat in the parlor. The older woman's expression was grim as a heavy silence hung in the air.
Finally, Rosemary spoke in a hushed, tight voice. "Our family has been close with the Harringtons for generations. I'll leave the fallout of this mess entirely in your hands."
Silas gave a curt nod.
Rosemary called for the butler. "Please fetch Alaina. She'll be returning to the Summers Estate with me."
The butler obeyed, only to return empty-handed a few minutes later. "Mrs. Summers isn't in her room. The staff are already searching the premises."
Frowning, Silas pulled out his phone and called her, only to hear the automated message that her phone was off.
"She might have gone for a walk," the butler offered before rushing back out to continue the search.
