The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 203

Alaina looked at him helplessly. His sheer, unyielding stubbornness terrified her.

"Ethan," she said, lowering her voice. "You need to face reality. You lost your last chance a long time ago."

Refusing to accept her words, Ethan shook his head, pushing himself off the floor and backing away.

"You're not doing this for me. You're still just doing this for yourself," Alaina raised her voice. "Do you even know what it means to truly love someone?"

"Acting like this is only going to cause more damage. It's only going to make your mother turn in her grave."

"Ethan, life isn't just about romance. You have your career, and you have responsibilities. You'll eventually meet someone who loves you, someone you can love back."

"Enough," Ethan snapped, shutting his eyes tightly. His Adam's apple bobbed hard before he opened them again, revealing a gaze filled with reckless desperation. "You're staying here for a few days. We'll talk when you're ready to listen."

"Ethan, let me go right now. Silas will track us down at any second," Alaina warned him firmly, instinctively glancing at the ring necklace hidden beneath her collar.

She didn't want Ethan to be ruthlessly destroyed by Silas over a moment of impulse, especially right after losing a parent.

Ethan let out a dark scoff, staring at her unblinkingly. "Alaina, don't idolize Silas Summers. And whatever you do, don't fall in love with him."

"Men like him don't know how to give their hearts to anyone."

"He doesn't need genuine love, and he sure as hell thinks he's above it."

With that, he turned on his heel and strode out the door without looking back.

Alaina's heart plummeted to the bottom of her stomach.

She listened as Ethan's car drove away, then spent the next several minutes wrestling with the locked door, but it wouldn't budge.
