The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 22

Lily had always known how to play the game, which was why she treated Rosemary with the utmost deference.

"Great-Aunt Rosemary," Lily greeted her sweetly as she slipped into the sanctuary.

Rosemary finished lighting a memorial candle for their ancestors and turned to embrace her with a chiding smile. "You've been back in the country for ages. Why hasn't my favorite girl come to visit me?"

Lily pouted, slipping easily into her spoiled-heiress routine. "I would never lie in front of the ancestors. I've just been swamped since I got back. This is my first real break."

"Oh, I'm sure," Rosemary teased, not letting her off the hook. "Too busy to visit an old woman, but plenty of time to parade around town with that Ethan Harrington."

Lily stuck out her tongue playfully, hugging Rosemary tight to beg for mercy.

"Alright, alright," Rosemary chuckled, before her expression turned serious. "Listen to me, Lily. I know you have history with the Harrington heir, but the man is married. The entire social circle knows it. You carry the Summers name. You don't need to settle for another woman's husband."

"I know you just want what's best for me," Lily replied gratefully. "But I don't want anyone else. He's the only one whose heart has never wavered." She lowered her voice conspiratorially. "Honestly, his marriage is a complete sham. They don't even sleep together. There's zero love there."

Rosemary frowned, letting out a heavy sigh. "And you believe that?"

"I do."

Seeing that Rosemary still looked skeptical, Lily quickly pivoted. "Don't worry about me, I know exactly what I'm doing. Actually, Ethan has been dying to pay you a visit. He remembered that you struggle with back pain, so he arranged for the top physical therapist from his hospital to come take a look at you."

"Well, my back has been absolute torture lately," Rosemary admitted.

"Then it's a date," Lily smiled, the perfect candidate already forming in her mind.

"Fine, I wash my hands of your love life," Rosemary surrendered, throwing her hands up. "I just hope I can convince a certain stubborn man to secure the Summers bloodline soon. His adopted daughter is old enough to get married, yet he's still living like a monk. It's ridiculous."

Lily grinned. "Good luck with that! I've got to run, Ethan's taking me to dinner."
