The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 23

Rosemary slipped on her reading glasses and stared at the lost-and-found section, which featured a photo of a black onyx brooch. "Isn't this our family heirloom?"

"Read the caption," Mrs. Gable urged.

Beneath the photo, the text read: *To the gentleman in the trench coat: You dropped this brooch when you stepped in to help me. Please contact me immediately. — Alaina.*

"Fascinating," Rosemary murmured, nodding slowly.

Meanwhile.

Alaina had stopped by the Foster residence to hand the onyx brooch over to Zachary Jenkins, before catching a cab back to the hospital.

The moment she stepped through the sliding doors, she bumped straight into Ethan Harrington.

Ethan's face hardened instantly. "Since you're so determined to ruin everything, you might as well quit your job at the rehabilitation center. I don't want to run into you here."

"I already quit," she replied, her voice drained of energy.

Ethan frowned. "Then why are you still here?"

A sudden realization hit him, and his expression turned glacial. "Stay away from my mother. She needs peace and quiet right now. I will explain the situation to her when the time is right. Do we have an understanding?"

Alaina nodded.

She had called the manor a few days ago to confirm Mrs. Harrington was fine. She had no intention of visiting, knowing the older woman would only try to talk her out of the divorce.

Ethan was briefly speechless before a sneer twisted his lips. "I never realized you could be so cold-blooded."

Alaina forced a weak smile. "Right back at you."

"..."

"Ethan!"

Lily's sugary voice drifted over from the lobby.

Ethan immediately brushed past Alaina and hurried toward Lily.

Alaina could hear him asking with frantic concern, "Why didn't you answer my calls? Are you okay? Did Alaina try to start something?"

She let out a quiet scoff, too exhausted to care, and walked deeper into the hospital.
