The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 26

Harvey flinched, unable to hide the terror in his eyes.

When it came to background and sheer ruthlessness, no one in their elite circle came close to Ethan.

When Ethan had his accident, all his so-called friends had scattered like roaches.

None of them had ever expected him to make a full recovery, let alone reclaim his empire.

Harvey quickly forced an apologetic smile. "You're taking this the wrong way, man. You're Ethan Harrington! To be blunt, even when you were in that wheelchair, there wasn't a room you couldn't enter or a person you couldn't command."

Ethan leaned back in his chair, staring unblinkingly at the lawyer with a cold, predatory gaze that completely shattered his usual polite facade.

"Alright, alright, I misspoke. I apologize," Harvey raised his hands in surrender. "I'm just trying to look out for you. I know you aren't an ungrateful guy, but what about Lily?"

"You guys grew up together. You can't compare Alaina to her. Lily is your childhood sweetheart. At the last gala, she quietly told me she was going to wait for you forever."

Ethan's anger finally receded, replaced by a heavy sigh. "What's done is done. It's fate. But don't let me hear you talk trash about Alaina again."

Late that night.

When Alaina fluttered her eyes open, she was back in her hospital bed.

Professor Foster leaned over, his voice gentle. "The surgery was a complete success. Logan's mentor was supposed to perform it, but he managed to bring in a world-renowned specialist to do it instead. We got incredibly lucky."

Alaina offered a pale, bloodless smile and nodded.

Over the next few days, her mentor rarely left her side, constantly bringing her easily digestible soups to help her regain her strength.

Finally feeling well enough to check her phone, she found dozens of missed calls, mostly from unknown numbers.

Desperate to get out of the sterile room, she decided to take a short walk, hoping to speed up her recovery so she could go home.

Ignoring the sharp twinges in her abdomen, she clung to the hallway handrail, shuffling forward inch by inch.

Suddenly, Ethan rounded the corner.

She immediately tried to turn away, but his long strides closed the distance in seconds.

Ethan planted his hands on his hips, staring at her with a baffling mix of anger, confusion, and deep concern—as if she were a puzzle he couldn't figure out.
