Alaina created a new file in his phone's notepad. "You know I have a bucket list. Well, now I'm giving you a mission list. It's called 'Alaina Wants, Alaina Gets.'"
Silas raised an eyebrow slightly, shooting her an indulgent look that told her to continue.
Taking her time, Alaina began typing into the memo...
1. Do one thing you absolutely hate doing for Alaina.
2. Spend Alaina's birthday with her.
3. Share a secret with Alaina.
4. Learn to do something you are terrible at.
To be continued...
Silas glanced at the list, his expression caught somewhere between amusement and helplessness.
"I'll add more when I think of them. This memo is going to be updated for a very long time," Alaina said with a bright, satisfied smile. "Now, which one do you want to cross off first?"
Silas took her hand. "Tomorrow, I'll share a secret."
Alaina's eyes lit up. "That fast?"
"Actually, we don't have to rush. We can take it slow."
Silas chuckled. "Don't worry, this is a secret I've wanted to tell you for a long time."
The next day, Silas brought Alaina to her alma mater.
At this time of year, most of the flowers along The Cherry Blossom Promenade had already fallen, leaving only a few late-blooming cherry blossoms still clinging to the branches.
Silas held Alaina's hand as they walked down the promenade.
