Just as she was about to leave, Julian Rowe suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Dr. Rossi, would you mind if I sat down for a quick chat?" Julian asked with a smile.
Alaina was taken aback for a few seconds but didn't refuse, gesturing for him to take a seat.
A server came over to take his order.
Julian politely asked for a glass of water.
Even before this, Alaina had always thought the chairman carried a quiet, scholarly aura that didn't quite match his powerful corporate title.
He had a clean, gentle presence.
The sunlight happened to slant through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a glow right behind him.
The warm rays seemed to wrap him in an inviting, sun-kissed energy.
Sitting face-to-face with him now, she felt the pull of his intellectual charm, finding it all too easy to let her guard down against his natural warmth.
She tried to recall the past. Back when she had won a major technology award, Julian had personally invited her to bring her talents to Apex Microelectronics after graduation.
Once the server dropped off his water, Julian cut straight to the chase. "Dr. Rossi, if you're looking to return to research and development, why not consider Apex?"
Alaina furrowed her brow, noting how incredibly direct the man was.
"Not everyone is desperate to get into Apex," she replied.
