Alaina screamed, "Stop it!" and swung her handbag like a weapon, shoving her way in to pry the two women off of him.

She shielded Logan, glancing back with heartbreak at his scratched, reddened face before glaring fiercely at the attackers.

"You're a patient, stay out of this! Go call the cops!" Logan grabbed her shoulders, frantically trying to push her out of harm's way.

"I already did," Alaina muttered back. "And there's no way I'm just going to stand by while you get jumped."

"Oh, look, the backup is here!" one of the women shrieked, pointing directly at Logan's nose. "Everyone, look at this monster masquerading as a doctor! He preys on his female patients! My sweet, innocent niece was ruined by him!"

After her tirade, she held up her phone, proudly displaying an explicit photo of a shirtless man and woman entangled together for the crowd to see.

The bystanders began pointing and whispering about Logan, while the more shamelessly curious ones pulled out their own phones to record.

Logan planted his hands on his hips, letting out a humorless laugh. "I don't even know the person in that picture. If you're going to Photoshop me, at least make it look realistic."

"There is no justice!" the woman howled, desperately trying to draw an even bigger crowd. "A pure, innocent girl came in for a checkup and was defiled by this animal!"

Alaina crossed her arms, her expression grim. Glancing up at the second-floor balcony, she spotted a very familiar figure.

Lily Summers was resting her arms on the railing, her makeup flawless. With her chin propped on one hand, she watched the chaos unfold with a wicked, thoroughly entertained smile, her gaze dripping with provocation.

Suddenly, it all made perfect sense. This was exactly why the hospital security guards were just standing around watching instead of intervening.

It was a classic Lily move—vindictive and theatrical.

Alaina knew that even if the police cleared Logan's name, his reputation in the hospital would be completely destroyed.

A second later, Logan spotted Lily as well. "That manipulative bitch is behind this," he cursed through gritted teeth.

He immediately lunged forward to confront her.

Seeing him move, the older woman screamed, "Don't even think about running!" and signaled the burly men to swarm him.

Logan instinctively shoved Alaina behind him, finally throwing his hands up to fight back.
