"This is Harrington Memorial Hospital," Ethan said, his tone deadly serious. "It is not your personal playground."
Lily adopted a look of deep betrayal. "After how they humiliated me the other day, this is nothing. Are you really saying I went too far?"
Ethan remained silent, staring at her with a rare, cutting sharpness.
"That guy is Logan Foster. He's Alaina's childhood best friend, and a doctor right here in your hospital. Did you even know that?" Lily asked, pointing down at the lobby.
Ethan frowned. He clearly had no idea.
"Alaina used to work here, and she spent every single day sneaking around with him on company time," Lily claimed with absolute certainty. "You're the only fool who actually believed your ex-wife was some noble, saintly woman making sacrifices for you."
Hearing this, Ethan looked back down at the first floor.
Amidst the brutal brawl, Alaina was still clinging tightly to Logan's waist, desperately trying to pull him back.
It was glaringly obvious how desperately she wanted to protect him.
In an instant, a turbulent wave of jealousy and anger surged in Ethan's chest, twisting his features into a dark scowl.
"From what I've heard, Logan has always had a sleazy reputation. Those people coming after him was bound to happen sooner or later. Birds of a feather flock together, Ethan. Can't you see Alaina's true colors yet?" Lily demanded.
Ethan lowered his gaze and expressionlessly pulled his arm from her grasp. "Until the papers are finalized, she is still my wife."
With that, he stormed off.
"Ethan!" Lily shrieked, her beautiful face contorting with rage as she stomped her foot.
"Ms. Summers, please don't be upset," Ms. Campbell pleaded nervously. "Mr. Harrington isn't mad at you. He just values loyalty too much."
"Shut up," Lily snapped, shooting the secretary a venomous glare. "Just keep a close eye on them for me."
"Yes, of course," Ms. Campbell stammered, bowing quickly before jogging off to catch up with Ethan.
Amidst the violent shoving, Alaina's strength rapidly faded, and her vision began to blur and sway dangerously.
Suddenly, a powerful grip seized her shoulder, jerking her backward and forcing her hands off of Logan.
Her eyes widened as she whipped her head around, her body crashing solidly against Ethan's hard chest.
