The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 55

Alaina accepted the folder but cautiously refrained from opening it immediately.

Zachary spoke softly. "Our team has already informed Dr. Foster that it won't be an issue if you don't return home for the time being. If you need any essential personal items, we can have someone fetch them for you."

Alaina frowned, suddenly realizing that what she held wasn't just a document—it was a ticking time bomb.

Back when she worked in the university-corporate joint lab, the director had once been 'invited away,' only to return weeks later. He had merely disclosed that he was providing technical support.

Her senior colleagues used to jokingly call it the 'No Comment Vacation.'

"There's no need to panic, Dr. Rossi," Zachary added. "Given the classified nature of this intel, The Security Administration must ensure zero leaks.

"For the next few days, we've arranged temporary accommodations for you. Whether or not you can solve the problem, you will be escorted home safely at the end of it."

She scoffed. "You didn't even ask if I agreed. This is kidnapping."

Zachary offered a calm, unflappable smile. "Standard operating procedure for The Security Administration. We appreciate your understanding."

Alaina sneered in disbelief and whipped her head toward Silas.

The way he sat there—completely unfazed, orchestrating everything like a chess master—made it painfully clear that resistance was futile.

The car pulled into a secluded private estate. Two security guards ushered her out and escorted her into an inner suite.

With guards stationed right outside the door, she was confined strictly to her room.

Aside from the luxurious amenities, it was essentially a prison cell.

Shortly after, someone carried in a stack of reference materials.

Zachary walked in last. "These are the related files. If you require anything else, just let me know. Get some rest tonight. We heard you've been a bit under the weather lately, so your medication has already been arranged. Please rest easy."

Before stepping out, he turned back to her. "The boss asked me to pass along a message. He said, 'Whether you're faking confidence or truly arrogant, feel free to prove yourself. I'll be watching.'"
