The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 79

Alaina froze, her eyes instinctively darting away.

Mrs. Gable gave her a knowing smile, clearly seeing through the facade but choosing not to pry further. "Pretend I never asked. We are truly thrilled to have you here at the estate. Let me know if you need anything."

With that, she turned and left the room.

The moment the door clicked shut, Alaina collapsed onto the edge of the bed, finally letting out a massive breath of air.

She pulled the two booklets from her purse. To secure this divorce certificate, she had to tie herself to a new marriage certificate.

The entire situation felt absurd, but she had been out of options.

If it hadn't been for Silas, and Ethan had actually stayed in the United States for half a year, she would have been completely stranded.

Meanwhile.

Halfway across the globe, in the United States.

Ethan had finished his meetings and returned to his villa. Sitting on the sofa, he pulled out his phone.

The contact he had pinned to the top of his messages showed no new notifications, save for her reminder a few days ago about their appointment at the civil affairs bureau.

Ms. Campbell had reported yesterday that his wife had asked about his whereabouts.

Assuming she knew he was out of the country, she hadn't bothered trying to reach him again, forced to wait patiently until he returned to finalize the divorce.

The thought brought a dark gleam to Ethan's eyes, and the corners of his lips tugged upward in an imperceptible smirk.

"Ethan!"

Lily called his name cheerfully, practically bouncing down the stairs with a radiant smile.

Ethan stood up to meet her. "You seem to be in a great mood."

Lily looped her arm through his, flashing him a meaningful grin. "I just got off the phone with your grandmother, so of course I'm happy. She told me to keep a close eye on you, make sure you take your meds, and ensure you keep your legs warm."

Ethan nodded. "I was tied up with work all day and couldn't check on you. How was your catch-up with your friends?"

"They all said I look a million times better than I did back then," Lily sighed dramatically. "Those years were awful. I was so worried about you that I couldn't even focus on my classes. If my bodyguards hadn't locked my passport away, I would have flown back to see you a hundred times. I actually collapsed from malnutrition a few times, and the campus medics had to rush me away. It scared them to death."
