Zachary chuckled warmly. "It's a highly confidential agency. We handle a lot of dangerous situations. Let's just say we protect VIPs and eliminate bad guys who mean us harm."
"Does that mean you have lots and lots of weapons?"
"Exactly," Zachary nodded. He leaned in and whispered conspiratorially, "And just so you know, Stella, your new brother-in-law is a boxing champion, a shooting champion, and an equestrian champion. A triple threat."
The entire table fell dead silent, everyone staring in absolute shock.
Silas shot Zachary a freezing, lethal glare.
Zachary instantly buried his face in his plate, mumbling, "Wow, it's been so long since I've had such amazing food."
"Whoa..." Stella's face lit up with sheer hero worship as she turned to her sister. "Alaina, you are so..."
Knowing exactly what the little girl was about to say, Alaina swiftly shoved a piece of meat into Stella's mouth to silence her. "You are not allowed to brag about this to anyone. Understand?"
Stella chewed rapidly, swallowed, and asked, "But people are definitely going to ask what my sister's husband does. What am I supposed to say?"
Alaina was completely stumped.
Silas looked at Stella, his gaze softening considerably. "Come here, I'll teach you."
Stella eagerly hopped out of her chair and scurried over.
Silas leaned down and whispered something quietly into her ear.
"Got it?" he asked, pulling back.
Stella nodded enthusiastically. "Got it, Silas!"
She skipped happily back to her seat and resumed eating.
Alaina leaned over to her sister. "What did he tell you?"
