The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 131

Vantage Point University.

“That’s her. The one who showed up and started bragging she’d knock Magee out of first place. Seriously, what does she have besides her face? She’s got zero talent and her attitude is just awful.”

“I know, right? Word is Paulina had to pull strings to get her admitted. Without connections she’d be out there working some dead-end job.”

“And she doesn’t even have a formal degree. How does she even have the guts to stir things up at Vantage Point? I want to see how Magee puts her in her place.”

Rebecca stepped into the cafeteria and grabbed a tray, pretending not to notice as people around her whispered and glanced her way. Their words were sharp, but her face stayed unreadable. She turned, cool as ever, and met their gaze directly.

They clearly hadn’t expected her to look back at them so boldly. Suddenly, they seemed a lot less brave, shifting and avoiding eye contact like they’d been caught doing something embarrassing.

Rebecca let out a sharp little laugh and curled her lips into a mocking smirk. “You’re waiting to see me crash and burn? Hate to break it to you, but you’ll be disappointed. Maybe spend less time gossiping and more time studying. You wouldn’t sound so clueless every time you talk.”

That comment lit a fuse. The group bristled.

“Who are you calling clueless?”

“You barely graduated high school. What gives you the right to judge us?”

“I bet you’re hungry for a fight. Careful, or—”

He stepped forward, but one of his friends grabbed his arm and held him back. “Chill. Do you want to be the next one the university calls out in front of everyone?”

His jaw tightened as he let his hand fall, muttering angrily under his breath.

Rebecca didn’t bother with their outbursts. She finished up at the food counter and walked straight to a lonely corner. She sat, unhurried, setting down her tray.

“You just wait!” The same guy from before jogged over, trying to look tough.

Rebecca barely spared him a glance and flashed a fearless grin. “I’ll be right here. I just hope you actually show up.”

Rebecca paused, halfway through a bite. “You need something?”

The girls glanced at each other, nudging silently until the one with glasses spoke first. “I’m Candace, and this is Edna. We’ve admired you ever since that day in the cafeteria. When we heard you told everyone you’d beat Magee and take first, we wanted to say we’re cheering for you. Magee’s been number one forever. If you can really beat him, that would be so impressive.”

Rebecca had heard this kind of thing before, and she barely reacted, her face smooth.

“You don’t think I’m just talking big?” she said.

“Not at all!” Candace shook her head hard. “We know you’re legit.”

They probably couldn’t vouch for anyone else, but they’d seen Rebecca’s skills with their own eyes. No way would they put her in the same category as the people just running their mouths.

Shy Edna nodded quickly. “We know you’ll get first place, and there’s no way you copied anyone. I study music, and I watched you write that song on the spot. Anyone saying you plagiarized Gavin is ridiculous. Your music is huge and detailed, honestly better than some of the professors. Gavin’s nowhere near your level.”

Rebecca smiled faintly. “Thanks for saying that. Since you study music, got anything of your own you’re proud of?”
