The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 135

The next morning, Rebecca finished her breakfast and wandered out, planning to track down Wade.

As she strolled past the archives building, a thought popped into her head. During her last snooping session, she’d learned that the records clerk who once handled student files now ran the university archives.

On a whim, she changed course and headed straight to the entrance.

Before she could even get close, a middle-aged security guard stepped in her way. “Excuse me, can I help you with something?”

“I want to take a look at my student file,” Rebecca replied, sounding almost bored.

Her flat tone made the guard squint at her in suspicion. Was she here to stir up trouble? But then again, looking her over, she seemed like a new arrival, probably just unaware of how things worked around here.

He cleared his throat. “If you want to check your records, you’ll need a slip from Mr. Ablitt. No slip, no entry. That’s the rule.”

Rebecca was a bit amazed at how strict things were. Then again, this was Vantage Point University—a top school. Definitely not the same as the random college she’d attended before.

She just nodded. “Okay, got it.”

She wasn’t in any hurry. Now that she was on campus, she’d find her chance to talk to the clerk sooner or later.

The guard watched her walk away, her head held high like she was the boss and he was just some underling reporting in. He couldn’t decide if he should laugh or be annoyed. Shaking his head, he muttered, “Kids these days. Can’t even be bothered to say thanks.”

“What’s going on, Mac?” Rita—the archive manager—called from inside.

Mac glanced over his shoulder and saw Rita emerging, balancing a hefty stack of files. She was only in her thirties but dressed so old-fashioned it added at least a decade to her look, those heavy black-rimmed glasses not helping either.

When he noticed Rita looking unsettled, he asked, “Rita, do you know her?”

Rita snapped out of it and forced a little smile. “No, she just has really striking features.” Maybe she was just imagining things. After all, this girl looked seventeen or eighteen, basically a kid not too long ago. Since leaving the hospital, Rita had been at Vantage Point, hardly speaking to anyone from the outside world. There was no way their paths had crossed before.

Class A.

Rebecca slid into her seat right as the bell rang, only to see Lily shoot her a death glare.

“Rebecca, how many times have you shown up late this week? The exam’s tomorrow and you’re still not cracking a single book. Are you actually planning to flunk out?”
