Ablitt's expression instantly darkened. What was wrong with these students today?
"Gavin, this is an examination. Save your words for later."
"No!" Gavin refused. Ignoring the Dean's worsening glare, he gritted his teeth and pushed forward. "Dean, this is extremely important. If I don't speak up, you'll make the wrong decision!"
Ablitt instinctively glanced at Wade, noticing the older man's frown. His heart pounded. He pointed a finger at Gavin. "What is wrong with you? How dare you interfere with a teacher's decision!"
Gavin threw caution to the wind. "I'm not interfering with your decision! Garnett's piece is exactly the same as the one I'm about to play! I suspect he plagiarized me again!"
The air in the room froze.
Ablitt looked at him in disbelief, too afraid to check Wade's reaction. "Do you realize what you're saying in such a serious setting?" he demanded, furious.
Gavin shot a look at Garnett, who remained silent. "Of course I do. That's exactly why I have to speak up!"
Lily hid her delight. Afraid of drawing Wade's ire, she suppressed the urge to back Gavin up for now.
Jack Morgan was stunned that this happened right when Garnett was about to pass. "Gavin, do you have any proof?"
As if waiting for the cue, Gavin immediately pulled out his sheet music. "Judges, please take a look. This is my score." He handed it over respectfully. "Although Garnett changed a few minor details, the overall technique and emotional delivery are identical to mine. Please look closely and give me justice!"
The judges' faces turned grim as they examined the score. Their previous awe at the performance morphed into outrage.
Ablitt was absolutely livid. He had just vouched for Garnett, and now the kid was a repeat plagiarist!
His face turned pale with anger. "Garnett, how do you explain this?"
Down in the lobby, the students erupted into an uproar.
"But you never know. Sometimes inspiration just strikes. A lot of musicians are like that."
The debate raged on, nobody able to reach a conclusion.
While the lobby was in chaos, the tension inside the exam room was suffocating.
Seeing Garnett remain silent, Lily immediately launched into a harsh reprimand.
"Garnett! You're a student of Apex Academy. You claimed Gavin framed you last time, but what about now? In less than a week, your score matches his again. Isn't that a bit too coincidental?"
The other teachers shot him looks of doubt. Ablitt, frustrated, kept his mouth shut, refusing to defend anyone now.
Becoming the target of everyone's anger, Garnett stood completely unfazed, as if he had anticipated this all along.
