The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 81

People were starting to pick up on how strange the whole thing was.

Seriously, why was everyone else just following the normal routine for the fitness assessment, while Rebecca ended up trapped by a crowd right at the front gate, basically pressured into taking the test on the spot? Anyone would be upset if they were put on the spot like that. Being invited is one thing, but being forced is totally different. No wonder Rebecca seemed annoyed.

“We... we were only trying to help you out. You’re just too sensitive, twisting our kindness,” Una said, eyes darting as she struggled to defend herself.

But by now, plenty of bystanders had snapped out of it and were no longer falling for her excuses.

“That isn’t exactly a helpful reminder. Imagine you as a freshman getting cornered at the school entrance. Would you have liked that?”

“Exactly. Who does that to someone else? Anyone a little more timid probably would’ve ended up in tears.”

“Paulina wouldn’t want her own sister to be bullied like this. And you guys call yourselves fans? With fans like you, who even needs haters?”

After those comments, Paulina’s little fan club went silent. They looked freaked out, not daring to say anything else.

Paulina watched it all start slipping out of control, cursing her useless supporters in her mind. Even though she was irritated, she had no choice but to step up.

“Please, everyone. Let’s not fight about this. If I’d just explained things clearly to Rebecca in the car earlier, none of this would have happened. This is all my fault... Rebecca’s like that, she’s just really direct and sometimes doesn’t filter her words. She’s really not a bad person, so don’t judge her too harshly.”

She spoke softly, her voice gentle and full of sincerity, eyes a little red at the corners. With her pale, delicate face, she looked so fragile that even the most level-headed person might feel their heart soften. Just the sight of her would make anyone think she’d been terribly wronged, whether she said anything or not.

Direct and doesn’t filter her words? Wasn’t that just another way of saying she had no social skills or tact?
