The Day I Quit Him (Autumn and Mars) novel Chapter 222

**Chasing Light, Finding Peace by Rohan Verma – Chapter 222**

The disparity in height between Autumn and Owen was significant, and it soon became overwhelming for her. With a sigh, she released her grip on him, her body surrendering to the fatigue that had set in.

“You know, you’re seriously tall. My feet are absolutely killing me,” she exclaimed, her playful tone laced with a hint of exhaustion.

Owen felt a thrill in his chest at her lighthearted complaint, his heart racing unexpectedly.

“My fault,” he replied, his voice rough, as if it had been worn down by the grit of sandpaper.

A rush of warmth crept into Autumn’s cheeks, prompting her to bury her face against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. “It’s not like I’m blaming you…” she mumbled, a wave of embarrassment washing over her.

Owen chuckled softly, a sound that made her stomach flutter. “Yeah, I get it,” he said, his tone reassuring.

Yet, that only served to fluster Autumn further.

What could he possibly understand? she mused, her mind racing.

He can’t even manage a kiss properly, so how could he grasp all these complicated feelings?

Recalling the sweetness of Owen’s hesitant kiss, she asked, her curiosity piqued, “Was that… your first kiss?”

Owen was taken aback by her question, his body tensing as if caught off-guard.

The rigid look on his face told Autumn everything she needed to know. In a desperate attempt to contain her laughter, she forced herself to think of the most somber things she could conjure.

Yet, despite her efforts, Owen caught the glimmer of mirth dancing in her eyes.

Feigning a fierce glare, he asked, “What? Is it illegal to still have your first kiss?”

“Pfft—”

Autumn was already on the verge of laughter, and Owen’s innocent remark pushed her over the edge.

“Hahahaha…”

The realization hit her like a wave; Owen was almost thirty and had never been kissed.

A man this pure was practically a mythical creature.

Her heart swelled with joy and disbelief. She felt incredibly lucky to have stumbled upon such a wonderful guy; it was as if the universe had conspired in her favor.

It was a testament to the idea that good things come to those who earn them.

Compared to a scumbag like Mars Wright, Owen was a breath of fresh air. With this revelation about his first kiss, Mars didn’t even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

Men who couldn’t control themselves should face dire consequences.

“Stop laughing,” Owen said, his face darkening at her teasing.

However, he couldn’t bring himself to utter anything harsh, opting instead for a mock serious expression. “Autumn, please stop laughing.”

The more he tried to maintain his stern demeanor, the more laughter bubbled within her.

Finally, worn down by her amusement, Owen couldn’t help but join in.

“Okay, just… keep this between us. Don’t you dare tell anyone,” he insisted, his tone half-serious, half-joking.

Owen had never thought there was anything wrong with being a late bloomer in the kissing department.

He was simply worried that Autumn might think poorly of his skills, which could tarnish his image in her eyes.

Autumn felt a rush of warmth in her cheeks. “Do you really think I’d share something like this with anyone else?”

“Ahem.”

Owen was clearly a novice in these matters, utterly clueless. They exchanged awkward glances for a few moments before Owen broke the silence. “Let me walk you back to your room. You should get some rest.”

Autumn nodded, feeling content and a little drowsy.

Her mind was still buzzing with excitement from solidifying her relationship with Owen.

But with her pregnancy weighing on her, the drowsiness was undeniable.

As they walked, Owen gently placed one hand on her arm, wrapping the other around her waist.

He was so careful, treating her as if she were a delicate piece of porcelain.

Autumn wanted to assert that she wasn’t that fragile.

But seeing the delight on his face, she decided to keep her thoughts to herself.

When they arrived at her bedroom door, Autumn was about to step inside when Owen spoke up. “Since we’ve decided to give this relationship a go, does that mean I can move in?”

Autumn froze, her heart racing.
