I Wouldn’t Mind if He Married In
Inside the hospital room, someone was clearly smiling.
Outside the room, someone else had a smile plastered on their face that was impossible to wipe off.
“It’s so quiet, I can barely hear anything…”
Nina pressed her ear against the door, but Margaret Bennett grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
“Are you crazy? If we get too close, they’ll hear us. Your sister–in–law is super shy. If she knew we were eavesdropping, she’d probably avoid you for a month.”
Remembering that this was exactly how Autumn Lopez was, Nina quickly took a few steps back.
“Okay, okay, I’ll stop listening.”
Seeing her back off, Margaret herself took Nina’s spot. “Well, let me have a listen then.”
Nina’s eyes nearly popped out of her head.
“Auntie, you tricked me!”
Margaret chuckled. “How is this tricking you? Oh wow, you can hear much more clearly from here! Too bad we can’t see what’s happening. Our Owen is finally having one of those epic, ‘marriage–of–convenience–turns–to–real–love‘ romances. As his mom, I’m seriously so stoked.”
“And Autumn is so gentle, beautiful, and capable! Owen really married up! When he wins, we all win!”
Listening to her aunt’s rambling, Nina rolled her eyes, exasperated.
“Auntie, my cousin is the one getting a wife, you know? You want him to marry into her family?”
“If that’s what Autumn wants, I don’t mind.”
“Besides, it doesn’t matter whose last name the baby has, as long as it’s a Bennett baby.”
Nina had never met such an open–minded mother–in–law. She couldn’t help but give her aunt a thumbs–up.
“You’re one of a kind.”
She really was something else. Having been in the entertainment industry, her ability to accept things was way stronger than most people’s.
“But Auntie, should we tell my sister–in–law about Robert Williams and the others being back in the country?”
“I think she’s pretty smart. It’s not like she won’t figure it out if we don’t tell her. What if Robert actually goes after her and she’s completely clueless and unprepared? Wouldn’t that be even more dangerous?”
“Owen will figure out a way to handle it. We don’t need to worry about that.”
I Wouldn’t Mind if He Married In
If you had to name the person in the family most worried about something happening to Autumn, it was definitely Owen.
Margaret had told Owen before that Autumn wasn’t a timid person. It would be better to tell her directly than to hide it from her. With Autumn’s intelligence, she might even be able to handle danger herself if it came up.
“That’s good.”
Nina patted her cheeks. She hadn’t had a proper rest since the incident, and now that she could finally relax, a wave of exhaustion washed over her.
“Nina, you look terrible. Were you scared too?”
Nina didn’t try to act tough in front of her aunt. “I think so… I feel kind of dizzy.”
Margaret said immediately, “Then you should go rest at a hotel nearby. I’ll come get you after I finish talking with your sister–in–law.”
Nina didn’t look well at all. Margaret, wanting to get her home as soon as possible, reached out and knocked on the hospital room door.

Inside, Autumn, who had just confessed her feelings and been pulled into a deep kiss by Owen, nearly bit his lip in shock at the sound.
“Oof…”
She didn’t bite down, but her teeth still scraped against him. Owen covered his mouth, a pained look on his face.
“Are you okay?”
Autumn quickly tried to check on him.
The moment she pulled his hand away, the man grabbed the back of her head and kissed her again.
“Mmmph-”
Autumn’s eyes flew open. Owen was being so bold.
There was someone right outside the door, for crying out loud! When did this man learn to be so shameless?
“Stop-” Autumn finally found a chance to speak, but Owen didn’t let go right away. Instead, he kissed her again, hard, before slowly releasing her.
“Autumn? Can I come in?”
Margaret’s voice from outside sounded a little urgent.
Thinking something was wrong, Autumn quickly said, “Yes, come in.”

Margaret let out a breath of relief and quickly pushed the door open, her eyes immediately landing on their exceptionally red lips.
“You two…”
Autumn’s heart leaped into her throat.
She thought Margaret had figured it out and was about to explain, but her mother–in–law’s tone shifted. “I think Nina got scared too. I told her to go rest at a nearby hotel first. I need to go check on her. We’ll head home once she feels a bit better.”
“If you need anything, just call the staff at home, or have your dad come over.”
Margaret looked at Autumn apologetically. “Autumn, honey, I’ll come see you again tomorrow.”
Autumn knew Margaret was worried she might feel neglected, so she shook her head and smiled. “It’s okay, Mom. Go take care of your business. It’s nothing serious over here. Don’t wear yourself out running around.”
“I’m fine. How could visiting you at the hospital be tiring? Don’t you worry. If there’s anything you want to eat, just let me know, and I’ll have someone make it and bring it to you.”
“Thanks, Mom.”
Margaret smiled at Autumn, then turned and left.
Once Margaret’s figure disappeared from the doorway, Autumn said with some concern, “Nina was so focused on me back then, she must have been terrified herself.”
“You should go check on her.”
Owen glanced at her. “Didn’t my mom already go? What do you need me to do? My wife is lying in a hospital bed right now. If I leave, won’t you feel neglected?”
The word “wife” made Autumn blush, and she shyly lowered her head.
“Actually…”
As if he knew what she was about to say, Owen reached out and took her hand.
“Autumn, after the proposal, I thought about asking if you wanted to plan the wedding.”
