THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1015

On Sunday evening, Caitlin was escorted back to Kingsward University by her family and a reluctant Monday. The moment she walked into her dorm room, Gertrude and Elsa rushed to greet her.

"Catie! You're finally back! We missed you so much," Elsa said, grabbing Caitlin's hand. "It's so nice not to have to do the training! Look at Gertrude and me, we're as tanned as leather!"

It wasn't just Elsa and Gertrude; nearly everyone in the dorm was several shades darker. All you could see were their white teeth. Only Caitlin remained as fair as snow, looking like she belonged in a different picture entirely.

Hearing Elsa's comment, Charis glanced up at Caitlin, a dark look flashing in her eyes.

"Damn bitch. Why does she get to stay perfect while I get roasted like a pig? Caitlin's doing this on purpose, trying to outshine me. Beauty's always made brighter by contrast—she's using my tan to make her own fair skin stand out. How else could she maintain her title as the campus queen of Kingsward University? Shameless!"

And because of Caitlin, she'd gotten an earful from Adler. The memory of her own uncle scolding her for an outsider made Charis's blood boil. "Just you wait. I will get my revenge and make sure you get kicked out of Kingsward University." A sinister light gleamed in her eyes.

"It's okay," Caitlin said to Elsa. "I brought some brightening cream. It's specifically for repairing sun-damaged skin. You two use this, and you'll be back to normal in no time."

With that, Caitlin pulled two jars of cream from her suitcase and handed them to Elsa and Gertrude.

"Wow, thanks, Catie!"

Gertrude and Elsa happily accepted the skincare products. Gertrude then added, "Catie, I just got my scholarship money! It's over two thousand. I'm treating you and Elsa to a nice dinner tonight."

"Sounds great," Caitlin said, her eyes curving into crescents.

"Then I'll treat you two tomorrow night," Elsa chimed in.

Charis's eyes were full of scorn. "Two thousand? What kind of meal can you even get with a pathetic two thousand?"

At her answer, Charis rolled her eyes. "Cheeseburger? That's probably the limit of her culinary experience. Pathetic street food."

Elsa agreed enthusiastically. "Yes! I haven't had it in forever either."

Gertrude frowned slightly. "It's the first time I'm treating you two. Are you sure cheeseburger is good enough?" It was so cheap; even if the three of them ate until they burst, it would barely cost a hundred.

"It's fine, it's fine. When you treat someone, it's the thought that counts, not the price," Caitlin said. "Your heart is in the right place, and that's what matters. Besides, I'm really craving cheeseburger!"

Elsa nodded. "Catie's right. So, Gertrude, your most important mission right now is to find a really good cheeseburger place."

"Alright."
