"Type O."
At that answer, Gavin Templeton burst out laughing.
"Hahaha!"
"Good! Very good! Amanda Gonzales! You've got some nerve! To think you've been lying to me for so long!" Gavin then pointed a trembling finger at Ann Templeton. "Get out! Get the hell out of my house! I am not your father! And from this day forward, I never want to see you again!"
He was Type A.
Amanda was Type AB.
A child of theirs could be Type A, Type B, or even Type AB. But it was biologically impossible for them to have a Type O child.
So the paternity test was accurate.
Gavin's only regret now was not realizing this sooner.
What an idiot! He was a complete and utter fool! He had been deceived by Amanda for so many years.
If it hadn't been for Ransom Sinclair insisting on this test, he had no idea how much longer the lie would have continued.
No wonder when he and Amanda divorced, Ann had so adamantly chosen to go with her mother, even threatening to sever ties with him.
Gavin had always told himself it was just Ann being young and thoughtless. It wasn’t until now that the ugly truth finally sank in. She was never really his daughter at all.
What a damn humiliation.
To Gavin, Ann was now the living embodiment of his greatest shame.
"Dad! Don't let them fool you! This is all a trap set by Rowena Sinclair and Ransom! I'm your daughter, your real daughter!" Ann was completely panicked. She had no idea how things had gotten so out of hand. She dropped to her knees, clinging to Gavin's leg. "You can't listen to that bitch Rowena and kick me out! You're the only family I have left in this world!"
"Get off me!" Gavin kicked out at her. He put all his strength into it, showing her no mercy.
Ann felt a sharp, searing pain blossom in her chest.
Gavin looked ready to strike her again, but Rowena stepped in. "Gavin! Calm down. What if there's a mistake with the report? Are you sure you don't want to get another test done yourself?"
"There's no need! She is not my daughter! Ransom was right. She doesn't look anything like me. I should have seen it years ago. I was too stupid! I let Amanda play me for a fool for all those years!"
No one could comprehend the agony Gavin was in. He could barely breathe.
Even though Amanda hadn't treated him particularly well during their marriage, he had always believed they shared a genuine love.
"And Amanda is Type AB," Gavin continued. "But our supposed biological daughter is Type O! Isn't that just hilarious?"
"What?" Rowena's eyes widened. "So, the paternity report was really correct?"
Gavin forced a weak smile. "Rowena, you're just too naive! To think you'd even question the report!"
"Even if Ann isn't your biological daughter, you two lived together for so many years. Even without a blood tie, there's still…"
"Don't say it," Gavin cut her off. "I've been a fool for over twenty years. From now on, I just want to be with you and Ulysses. The three of us can finally have a good life together."
The only reason Gavin had ever forgiven Ann in the past was because he believed his blood ran through her veins.
Seeing his own daughter suffer brought him a sense of guilt.
But now, Ann was nothing to him. The guilt was gone.
If he acted like nothing had happened and continued to raise her, he would truly be the biggest idiot in the world.
Ransom added, "Sis, you need to stop being so soft. Besides, this isn't kindness, it's just being a bleeding heart! How can you force Gavin to accept someone who isn't his flesh and blood as a daughter? You're just rubbing salt in his wound!"
