Something important?
Hearing that, Caitlin and Gertrude immediately perked up, ready to listen.
Gertrude, always the impatient one, urged, "Well, spit it out! Don't leave us in suspense."
Elsa took a breath and said, "I'm getting married. The wedding is set for the eighth of next month."
Getting married?
The date was already set?
The eighth of next month?
That was less than half a month away.
A wedding was a major life event. That was moving at warp speed.
The announcement left Caitlin and Gertrude stunned.
Caitlin looked at Elsa. "Elsa, are you joking with us?"
Elsa smiled. "I'm not getting any younger. Isn't it normal for me to get married?"
"Wait!" Gertrude finally processed it. "Who's the groom?"
Elsa looked at Gertrude, about to speak, but Gertrude beat her to it, her voice filled with disbelief. "Elsa, don't you dare tell me the groom is that Xander!"
Seeing Gertrude's intense hostility towards Xander, Elsa couldn't help but frown. "Gertrude, you're way too prejudiced against him. He's actually a wonderful person! I really love him."
Caitlin's voice was quiet but firm. "So, the groom really is Xander?"
"Yes," Elsa said, pulling two invitations from her bag. "Catie, Gertrude, you're my best friends. You have to be there for my wedding."
Elsa had been so busy with wedding preparations lately that she had only just found the time to tell them.
Gertrude blurted out, "Don't tell me it was a hand-knitted backpack." After all, that was Xander's specialty.
"Of course not!" Elsa held out her wrist. "For our 100-day anniversary, he gave me this jade bracelet."
Gertrude squinted. "The quality of that jade looks so good. Are you sure it's not a fake?" A man like Xander would never be willing to spend tens of thousands on a jade bracelet. So, Gertrude's first instinct was that it had to be a fake.
Fake? Elsa was already upset, and that comment made her even angrier.
Before Elsa could retort, Caitlin spoke up. "It's not fake."
"Huh?" Gertrude's eyes widened in disbelief.
Caitlin continued, "That's high-quality, vintage jadeite. It looks like it has some age to it, at least a hundred years old, if not more."
With just a single glance, Caitlin could tell the bracelet was indeed very valuable.
Hearing Caitlin's words, Elsa felt instantly vindicated. "Catie has a good eye! This bracelet is Xander's family heirloom. Now tell me, a man who is willing to give me his family heirloom—could his feelings for me possibly be fake? So, Gertrude, you can stop doubting his sincerity."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
