THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1139

Of course, he had to see the performance through to the end.

But Elsa didn't see an act; she saw a man who loved her deeply, and it only reinforced her belief that she had made the right choice. Thank God she had stood by Xander. If she had listened to those vicious rumors and sided with Caitlin and Gertrude, she would have missed out on this wonderful man. She knew it all along. Caitlin and Gertrude were never true friends. What kind of real friend would constantly belittle their friend's partner?

Seeing Xander blame himself so harshly, Elsa's heart ached. "Don't say that, honey. It has nothing to do with you. Our friendship had simply run its course. Besides, it was never a healthy relationship to begin with. It's better that it's over."

Xander nodded, looking at her tenderly. "Honey, I'll support whatever decision you make. And who cares about Caitlin, anyway? So she has a high status. In my eyes, no one compares to you! From now on, you have me, and that's all you need. I'll love you for ten thousand years."

His words solidified her conviction. She had made the right choice.

Xander gently wiped the tears from Elsa's face. "Alright, honey. Tonight is our wedding night. Let's not talk about these unimportant people anymore. Let's do something more meaningful."

A blush crept onto Elsa's cheeks. Though they had been intimate before, their wedding night was different.

Though Frieda didn't mention them by name, Elsa knew she was talking about Caitlin and Gertrude. Since graduating, they were the only real friends she had.

Hearing Frieda's words, Elsa felt a pang of sadness. She knew Frieda meant well. She was just trying to be caring and help her feel at home by inviting her friends over. It was a shame Caitlin and Gertrude weren't the good friends she thought they were.

Xander shot Frieda a subtle look and said with a smile, "Mom, there's no rush. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future."
