THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1213

Grover pressed on. "I've already looked into it. Not only was Xander divorcing you, but he also tricked you into taking out a loan. When you refused the divorce, he threatened you with intimate videos of you two. That's your motive for murder."

Elsa's eyes widened in disbelief. She had deleted all of those chat logs and videos. How could Grover possibly know about them?

Grover read her expression. "You may have deleted the threatening messages from Xander's phone, but we recovered everything."

He paused, his voice low and deliberate. "And even if you don't tell us where you hid the bodies, we'll find them based on the leads we already have. Elsa, if you confess everything now and show some remorse, you might have a sliver of a chance. But if you keep lying, it will only make things worse for you."

"I want to see Catie! I want to see Catie!" Elsa's composure shattered. She broke down sobbing. "Do you even know who Catie is? She's Miss Gonzales! I'm her best friend! I need to see her right now!"

Caitlin. Only Caitlin could save her now. Caitlin had gone to such great lengths to pull her back from the brink of death. Surely, she wouldn't just stand by and watch the police lock her up and sentence her to death.

Grover frowned. "Elsa! You're a prime suspect in a multiple homicide investigation. You're not in a position to demand who you see."

Elsa glared at Grover, enunciating each word clearly. "I must see Catie. Until I see her, I won't say another word."

Just as Grover was about to refuse, Officer Ford stepped in. "I can arrange it. But whether Miss Gonzales agrees to see you is another matter."

"She'll see me!" Elsa declared, her eyes filled with an unshakable confidence. She had to.

Officer Ford gave Grover a subtle look. Grover nodded and stepped out of the hospital room.

As soon as he was in the hallway, Elsa's mother rushed toward him. "Mr. Grover, did you find the Forresters? Where are they? I guarantee you, this whole mess is their fault!"

She had to find them immediately to discuss compensation. This wasn't over by a long shot.

Grover nodded. "Yes."

A flash of glee crossed the father's face. Dead? That was great news! If the Forresters were all dead, then their entire estate would go to Elsa! She was the sole heir.

The Forresters were a middle-class family, at least. They might not have been millionaires, but the two properties they owned were worth well over ten million dollars. With that kind of money, buying a spacious condo for their son, Elton, would be no problem.

They had originally just been hoping for some compensation. They never imagined the entire Forrester fortune would fall into their laps. What an unexpected windfall. If the circumstances weren't so serious, Elsa's father would have thrown his head back and laughed.

Elsa's mother added, "Mr. Grover, the killers must have been the parents of his mistress, right? Well, I guess they did the world a favor."

Grover looked directly at her. "I'll say this one more time: there was no mistress in this case. And the person suspected of murdering the Forrester family is your daughter, Elsa Summers."
