THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1214

What? Who was the killer?

Before Elsa's parents could process the shock, Grover continued, "I was just about to come looking for you two. You should go in and convince your daughter to tell us where the bodies are hidden. We already have a mountain of evidence proving she killed them. If she doesn't cooperate, we'll have to resort to other methods."

"Mr. Grover, you… you're joking, right?" Elsa's mother asked, her voice trembling as she clung to a final shred of hope.

Grover stood tall. "As police officers, we serve the people and stand by every word we say. Why would I joke about something like this? Officer Ford is waiting for you in Elsa's room. You should go in."

Crash.

Elsa's mother felt her world collapse. Her vision went black, and she crumpled to the floor.

Fortunately, her husband was standing behind her and caught her before she hit the ground. "Doctor! Is there a doctor here?"

Medical staff rushed over and took Elsa's mother to an emergency room. She had only fainted from the overwhelming shock and was quickly revived.

"Honey, are you alright?" Elsa's father squeezed her hand.

Elsa's mother started crying. "I'm fine. Oh, honey, how could our Elsa be so foolish? Couples fight, even badly, but you can't just go and kill someone!"

Elsa's father felt a knot tighten in his stomach. Elsa was Elton's older sister. He wondered if this would affect Elton's future career. He'd heard that major companies run background checks now. Having an immediate family member with a criminal record could ruin his son's chances of getting a good job.

Elsa's mother continued, "Right, you need to call a lawyer, now! Ask if Elsa is still eligible to inherit the Forrester family's estate."

After what she had done, Elsa was surely facing the death penalty. But if she could still inherit the estate, then the Forresters' money and property would belong to them.

"Okay, I'll do it right now."

Now their daughter was lost, and the inheritance was gone too. Was all their trouble for nothing?

"The lawyer mentioned the 'Slayer Rule.' Since Elsa killed her husband, she's legally barred from inheriting a single cent of the Forrester estate." her husband explained.

The color that had just returned to his wife's face drained away completely.

Her husband took a deep breath. "Honey, don't panic yet. While I was on the phone, I heard that Elsa requested to see Miss Kensington, and Miss Kensington agreed. I think Elsa wants to see her to settle her final affairs."

"Elsa is a good, dutiful daughter. She must be planning to entrust us to Miss Kensington's care. A person's last words are often their truest. Maybe Elsa can convince Miss Kensington to give us back that spacious condo."

At these words, a glimmer of hope returned to Elsa's mother's eyes. If they had Caitlin's support for the rest of their lives, that would be far better than inheriting the Forrester estate.
