THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 994

A fake was a fake, after all.

Charis was afraid of being exposed.

Yvette and Nicolette were naive, but if more people found out, the rumor would inevitably spread. When that happened, someone would eventually call her out for not being the real Miss Gonzales. The humiliation would be unbearable.

So, the story couldn't go any further. She had to put a stop to it.

Nicolette, not expecting Charis to be upset, quickly apologized. "I'm sorry, Miss Gonzales. We... we'll be more careful in the future."

Yvette, however, found it odd. Normally, wouldn't someone in this situation want to declare their identity immediately? Besides, they were trying to help Charis. Why was she unhappy?

Could it be...

Was there something wrong with Charis's identity?

Charis's gaze fell on Yvette. "If you two hadn't guessed my identity, I wouldn't have even told you. I just want to be a normal person and finish my four years of university in peace."

"I'm not vain like Caitlin, who would dare to impersonate someone else!"

At this, Charis's tone grew sharper. "You two better watch yourselves from now on! If you ever leak my identity again or try to use my name to throw your weight around, you'll have hell to pay!"

Just a moment ago, Yvette had been questioning Charis's authenticity. Now, all her suspicions vanished.

Rich people were often discreet, and the name "Miss Gonzales" carried a lot of weight. It was perfectly normal for Charis to want to keep a low profile.

With that thought, Yvette nodded quickly. "Of course, Miss Gonzales. You can count on us. We'll remember!"

Nicolette chimed in, "Miss Gonzales, you're so humble! It just goes to show how different people are. If it were Caitlin, she'd probably be shouting it from the rooftops!"

But Charis, the real Miss Gonzales, had no intention of showing off. It was rare, incredibly rare.

Charis scoffed. "She and I are not comparable, of course!"

At the same time, Nicolette made a silent vow to herself. She had to stay on Charis's good side. It was her only chance to change her destiny.

Charis was driven to a villa near the university.

She entered with practiced ease. "Uncle!"

"What is it?"

A ruggedly handsome man in his early thirties with tan skin was sitting in the living room.

This was Charis's uncle, Adler.

Charis sat down next to him, beaming. "Uncle, military training starts the day after tomorrow. Could you pull some strings and get me out of it? Please?"

Adler was a military officer. The instructors for Kingsward University's training were selected from active-duty officers, and it just so happened to be Adler's turn. Even more coincidentally, he was assigned as the instructor for Charis's class.
