THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 996

Charis knew how to manipulate people.

She knew Adler loathed those who relied on connections to get ahead. So, she deliberately mentioned Caitlin's name again, specifically emphasizing that her mother would lose face if Adler didn't provide extra care.

Now, Adler wouldn't be able to forget Caitlin's name even if he tried.

Even if he forgot now, when he saw the name on the roster on the first day of training, it would immediately be flagged as someone with connections.

And then, Adler would surely give Caitlin some special attention!

A cunning smile touched Charis's lips, her eyes glinting with mischief.

As expected, after she finished, Adler's expression soured even more. "Your mother will lose face? She's the one who made the promise, so she can figure it out herself! The military runs on iron discipline, not on doing favors for her!"

Charis sighed. "Uncle, Mom is your dear sister..."

"Is there anything else you came here for tonight?" Adler cut her off. "If not, you should get back to your school!"

Charis was reluctant to give up. "Uncle, about the military training, are you sure you can't make an exception?"

She really didn't want to participate in that dreadful training. It was hot, and it was exhausting. Standing for ten hours a day… just thinking about it gave Charis a headache.

"No!"

Once outside the villa, Charis stomped her foot in anger. "No wonder he can't find a girlfriend! Serves him right to be single forever!" Who would ever like a cold, dense guy like that?!

"Miss," the driver got out of the car. "Where to now?"

"My card's been cut off, and I can't go home. Where else can I go? Back to school!" After getting into the back seat, Charis muttered under her breath, "It's all that old bastard's fault! Why does he have to meddle in my business? Shouldn't he be managing his own son? So nosy!"

The driver, of course, heard her words. But he was just a driver. Even if he heard, there was nothing he could say.
