THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 997

So, the two had arranged to meet up today.

Since the music academy was closer to the city center and more convenient for a day out, Caitlin took a car to meet Celeste there.

Celeste had been up bright and early, sitting at her vanity and meticulously applying her makeup.

Her roommate teased, "Celeste, got a date with your boyfriend today? You're up doing your makeup so early!"

"Nope," Celeste said with a smile. "I'm meeting up with my best friend. Of course, I have to look my best before going out."

Her roommate, sensing some gossip, leaned in. "Best friend? Guy or girl?"

"A girl, of course!" Celeste laughed. "When girls go out together, you have to look your absolute best. It makes it feel like a special occasion."

"A girl is worth a full face of makeup?" The roommate noticed Celeste was even putting in colored contacts and figured there had to be more to the story.

"She's absolutely worth it! She's my best friend!" Celeste paused, then added with a grin, "And she's absolutely gorgeous—even prettier than I am with a full face of makeup!"

Prettier than Celeste after makeup?

Her roommate's eyes widened at that.

Celeste was already beautiful, and makeup only enhanced it. To be prettier than that, she couldn't be human—she'd have to be an angel!

Thinking it, she said it aloud. "So you're saying your friend is some kind of angel?"

"Hey, you got it," Celeste replied, turning to her roommate. "She really is an angel!"

Now her roommate was even more curious. "Well, I've seen a lot in my life, but I've never seen an angel. When are you two heading out? Mind if I tag along and take a look?"

"We're meeting at nine, so we still have over an hour!"

Her roommate pressed on. "Perfect, I was heading out anyway. How about you introduce me to your angel friend?"

She just had to see if this friend was as beautiful as Celeste claimed.

"Sure thing," Celeste agreed with a nod. "You'll see just how stunning my friend is."

Meanwhile, Caitlin was already in the car.

Caitlin replied: [Just got in the car.]

She took a picture of her view and sent it to him.

She'd told him last night that she was meeting Celeste today, so he already knew her plans.

He replied: [Have a great time.]

A moment later, another message came through. [And if the boss needs a personal bag-carrier, I'm always on standby!]

[Noted.]

At the same time.

Outside the music academy.

Celeste and her roommate, Rosemarie, had already arrived.
