Chapter 7 Completely Disillusioned
Under Evelyn Hart’s sharp gaze, William Miller’s small body trembled slightly.
Looking at her cold face, he opened his mouth and suddenly shouted, “I hate you! I’m not telling you! I want Auntie Leah! She’s not mean to me like you are!”
Evelyn Hart’s expression grew even colder, and impatience showed on her face.
“William Miller, do you think I’d be here if they were willing to take care of you?”
But it was precisely because she had come that she could see what Leah Foster had turned the son she had doted on since he was a baby into.
Leah Foster was clearly spoiling William Miller with the intention of ruining him.
And Ethan Miller was just letting her get away with it?
The more she thought about it, the colder Evelyn Hart felt inside.
She had thought that Ethan Miller had some real affection for William Miller as his son.
But judging by the current situation, William Miller might just be a tool for Ethan Miller to please Leah Foster.
In his heart, Leah Foster was clearly number one.
Thank goodness she had seen the truth.
William Miller sniffled. Looking at her cold expression, he felt a sense of unease.
But he had inherited Ethan Miller’s stubbornness. Even though he felt that something was off, he still defiantly
confronted Evelyn Hart.
“Stop pretending. Dad said you’re playing hard to get. You’re just trying to get attention and make Dad beg you to
stay!”
Even though Evelyn Hart had expected William Miller’s attitude, her heart still ached.
Clara Bell, seeing the tense atmosphere between mother and son, quickly stepped forward to try to ease the situation.
But the next moment, William Miller pushed Evelyn Hart hard and ran towards the office door.
“Dad! Auntie Leah!”
William Miller shouted as he threw himself into Ethan Miller’s arms.
His voice was still choked with sobs, sounding lonely and helpless.
“Dad, she was mean to me. She’s so bad. I don’t want her!”
He looked as if he had suffered some great injustice at Evelyn Hart’s hands.
Seeing William Miller’s tear-stained face, Leah Foster’s expression showed surprise and concern.
She quickly reached

and gently patted his back, soothing him in a soft voice. “What’s wrong, William? Why are tie Leah is here. Don’t be afraid. As long as I’m here, no one can hurt you.”
As she patted William Miller, Leah Foster glanced at Evelyn Hart out of the corner of her eye and said, with a hint of reproach in her voice, “Dr. Hart, William is still a child. Can’t you talk to him nicely? It was wrong of him to fight, but wasn’t the other child at fault too? Scolding him like this without knowing the whole story will scare him.”
Evelyn Hart crossed her arms and looked at the “happy family” scene in front of her, letting out a cold laugh.
“When I’m disciplining my child, why do you think you need to butt in?”
APANE
As soon as these words left her mouth, Leah Foster’s expression changed.
Looking extremely aggrieved, she looked up at Ethan Miller beside her and bit her lip. “I’m sorry, Dr. Hart. I didn’t mean to. William is close to me, and when I saw him being wronged, I couldn’t help it. I just…”
As she spoke, the corners of her eyes turned red, and her voice started to choke up. “I know it’s your job to raise your

child, and I shouldn’t have said anything. But please understand me. I just couldn’t stand seeing William upset.”
With that, she buried her head on Ethan Miller’s shoulder and began to sob softly.
Ethan Miller frowned, looking sorry. He put his arm around Leah Foster’s shoulders and looked at Evelyn Hart reproachfully. “Evelyn Hart, don’t go too far. I know you’re angry, but what does this have to do with Leah Foster? If you’re mad, take it out on me!”
Evelyn Hart almost laughed out of anger at Ethan Miller’s blatant favoritism.
Was it her fault?
All she had done was say one sentence.
And she had only spoken up because Leah Foster had provoked her first.
How was it that, coming from Ethan Miller’s mouth, it sounded like she had committed some unforgivable sin?
This was the first time Clara Bell had ever encountered such a situation. The awkwardness on her face was almost
palpable. She quickly cleared her throat, trying to ease the increasingly tense atmosphere. “Everyone, let’s calm down. We should deal with the children’s matter slowly. Let’s not let our emotions get the better of us.”
As she spoke, she gently patted the small chair beside her, motioning for everyone to sit down and talk things out.
But Evelyn Hart waved her hand. “Miss Bell, it’s not necessary. Now that the people who can actually discipline William are here, I should go. But before I leave, I have a few things to say.”
Evelyn Hart’s gaze turned to William Miller in Ethan Miller’s arms.
He was still clinging to Ethan Miller’s neck, sobbing pitifully.
Looking at him, Evelyn Hart spoke coldly.
“William Miller, did you tell other kids that if they didn’t like their annoying mom, they should replace her with a new one? And did you call Lucas a child without a mom?”
Upon hearing this, Ethan Miller frowned and looked down at William Miller in his arms. “William, is this true?”
William Miller shrank his neck but still insisted stubbornly, “I… I didn’t! She’s lying!”
Seeing this, Leah Foster immediately stepped in to smooth things over. “Ethan, whether William said such things or not doesn’t matter now. Look at how badly he’s hurt!”
Leah Foster gently touched the injuries on William Miller’s face, her words carrying an underlying implication. “Even if William said it, it was just childish talk. Dr. Hart, as William’s mother, when you saw him like this, why didn’t you care about him first instead of coming here to accuse him?”
Evelyn Hart’s gaze instantly turned sharp. She looked coldly at Leah Foster, her voice devoid of any warmth. “As a mother, of course I care about my son. But I also understand the importance of education. If William really said such things, it can’t be dismissed as ‘childish talk.’ Leah Foster, since you know so much about education, you must have known that spoiling ild is like killing them. So, can I assume you did this on purpose?”
Leah Foster’s face
ged slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.
She shook her head in a flustered manner.
“Dr. Hart, I certainly know the importance of education and understand what you mentioned. But I just think the most urgent thing now is to take care of William’s injuries. We can discuss other matters later when William has calmed down. Besides, as his mother, you should listen to William’s side of the story, not just believe the one-sided account of
an outsider.”
Next to them, Ethan Miller, who had been silent after Evelyn Hart’s words, now let out a cold snort. “Evelyn Hart, you’re not even as motherly as Leah Foster. No wonder William hates you so much. Sometimes, you really need to reflect on yourself.”
