Chapter 13 Returning to the Old Place
Hearing Caleb Gray’s excited voice on the other end of the phone, Evelyn Hart was a bit taken aback.
She looked at the name of the hospital on the computer screen and pursed her lips slightly.
“Coincidentally, it’s the hospital where I used to work.”
Caleb Gray was also silent for a moment, surprised. “What a coincidence.”
Evelyn Hart rubbed her sore eyes and let out a sigh. “Yeah, I think it’s quite a coincidence too. Caleb, how about this?
I’ll go to the hospital later, retrieve the relevant medical records, and report the details to you.”
After a pause, Evelyn Hart added, “However, I’m afraid I’ll need you to call the hospital director and explain the situation to him.”
After all, she had already resigned from the hospital and no longer had the authority to access medical records at will.
Without hesitation, Caleb Gray replied, “Don’t worry. I’ll call him right away.”
Since Evelyn Hart was doing this for his sake, he definitely should make that call.
Hearing her mentor’s words, Evelyn Hart smiled softly. “Okay, Caleb. I’ll set off now and call you to report the situation.”
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn Hart quickly picked up her car keys and drove to the hospital.
She knew that time was of the essence, and she had to obtain the medical records as soon as possible to provide as much help as she could for Caleb Gray’s friend.
When she arrived at the hospital, Evelyn Hart went straight to the medical records room.
Caleb Gray had already called the hospital director, who had granted her the permission to access the medical records. So, she didn’t encounter any obstacles.
After successfully retrieving the relevant medical records, she carefully went through each document and recorded the key information one by one.
Just as she was concentrating on organizing the medical records, there was a soft knock on the door.
lyn Hart instinctively looked up and saw that standing at the door was Olivia Scott, the administrator of the
ical records room and her former colleague.
re was a hint of surprise and curiosity on Olivia Scott’s face. Clearly, she hadn’t expected to run into Evelyn Hart, ho had already resigned from the hospital.
“Evelyn? What are you doing here?”
Evelyn Hart smiled softly, raised her hand to show what was in her hand, and then explained, “I’m here to retrieve some medical records. An elder needs this information.”
Upon hearing this, Olivia Scott nodded, as if she understood. “I see. Do you need my help? I’m free right now.”
Evelyn Hart knew:
Leant well, but it was working hours after all, and she didn’t want to waste other people’s time. r head. “It’s okay. I can manage on my own. You go about your work. Don’t let me hold you up.”
So, she gently shook Seeing this, Olivia Scott didn’t say anything more, but just advised, “Why don’t you come back to my office with me and organize the records there? It’s not very convenient for you here, and there are a lot of people coming and going in the medical records room, which might affect your concentration on organizing the materials.”
Evelyn Hart thought about it and felt that what Olivia Scott said made sense.
There were indeed a lot of people coming and going in the medical records room, and the noise and distractions might affect the efficiency of her organizing the medical records.
So, she nodded and looked at Olivia Scott gratefully. “Thank you.”
Olivia Scott shrugged indifferently. “Why be so polite? We were colleagues after all.”

The two left the medical records room together. Along the way, Olivia Scott kept asking her what she had been doing since leaving the hospital and why she had resigned.
For the first question, Evelyn Hart didn’t hide anything and told her the truth.
As for the second question, she pondered for a moment and finally didn’t tell the real reason.
She was about to get the divorce certificate and go abroad to start a new life. There was no need to reveal these family scandals.
If Ethan Miller found out, he would probably find ways to cause trouble for her. She had important things to deal with now and didn’t want to waste time getting entangled with Ethan Miller.
“Nothing much. I just felt a bit tired working here and wanted to resign and take a break for a while.”
She casually stated her reason. Olivia Scott nodded, and it was hard to tell if she believed it or not.
“I see. I thought it was because of E…”
Before Olivia Scott could finish her sentence, Evelyn Hart heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Evelyn?”
She instinctively clenched the medical records in her hand, and a thought flashed through her mind.
Could she be this unlucky?
Who was it that said “Fate brings enemies together”?
Evelyn Hart turned around and looked at Ethan Miller behind her, feeling a sudden headache.
On the way here, she had considered the possibility of running into Ethan Miller.
After all, since William Miller was sick, Ethan Miller couldn’t be so heartless as to leave William Miller alone in the hospital.
But the medical records room wasn’t close to the inpatient department, and she hadn’t expected to meet Ethan Miller here.
It seemed that she really shouldn’t have listened to Olivia Scott’s suggestion and gone to the office with her.
Ethan Miller clearly didn’t expect to see Evelyn Hart here either. He was slightly taken aback, and then walked up to her with a look of displeasure. “You came to see William? Well, at least you have some conscience. William’s fever has subsided, and he’s awake now. He just asked me why you hadn’t come yet. Now, come with me.”
After saying that, without waiting for Evelyn Hart’s reply, he reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards the inpatient department in a somewhat forceful manner.
Evelyn Hart was stunned by Ethan Miller’s sudden action. She instinctively tried to break free from his grip, but Ethan Miller held on tightly, and she couldn’t break free.
“Ethan Miller, let go of me! I’m not here to see William. I have my own things to do!” Evelyn Hart shouted angrily.
Originally, she tho chat with Olivia Scott present, she could communicate with Ethan Miller in a civil manner to avoid losing face. V. would have thought that Ethan Miller would be so unreasonable.
Evelyn Hart had thought that he would let go after hearing her words, but to her surprise, Ethan Miller ignored her struggles and protests and continued to pull her forward.
“What could be more important than seeing William? William misses you a lot. Even if you’re just throwing a tantrum, you should know your limits and distinguish the right situation. Now that he’s sick, you still want to hold a grudge?”
Ethan Miller thought simply.
He knew that Evelyn Hart was angry because Leah Foster was close to William Miller. That’s why he deliberately mentioned that William Miller missed her. As long as she went to see William Miller, she would understand that

William Miller still cared about her. Then, she wouldn’t be angry with William Miller anymore and naturally wouldn’t be so cold towards him.
Evelyn Hart stumbled a few steps as she was pulled by Ethan Miller.
Looking at Ethan Miller’s back, she felt a mix of anger and helplessness in her heart.
Ethan Miller was always like this, never willing to listen to her. He didn’t care about her needs or thoughts and always did things according to his own will. It was because of his indifference that William Miller had imitated him and
become what he was now.
Evelyn Hart took a deep breath and used all her strength to shake off Ethan Miller’s grip on her wrist.
Looking at Ethan Miller’s incredulous expression, she let out a cold laugh. “Can’t you understand what I’m saying? I said I have my own things to do.”
