Chapter 12 He Was Wrong
Chapter 12 He Was Wrong
As Ethan Miller listened to Evelyn Hart’s instructions on the phone, he couldn’t help but frown.
“Do you really not plan to come to the hospital to see William?”
Evelyn Hart glanced at the various medical records piled up in front of her and replied indifferently.
“Didn’t I make it clear enough in that last call?”
Hearing her indifferent tone, Ethan Miller instinctively felt that something was slipping away from his grasp.
He wanted to reach out and grab it, but he found that he couldn’t even open his fingers, let alone hold onto it.
He instinctively disliked this sense of powerlessness, and his voice unconsciously carried a bit of irritability and
urgency.
“Evelyn Hart, now that you’ve even quit your job, what else can you do besides being idle at home? William has a high fever approaching 39 degrees, and you don’t even want to come and take a look. Tell me, is there any other mother in the world as cold-blooded as you?”
Cold-blooded?
Evelyn Hart let out a cold laugh.
“Ethan Miller, I knew you couldn’t say anything decent.”
If she were really cold-blooded, would she have called Ethan Miller?
After all, deep down, she still didn’t want to see William Miller suffering from illness. That’s why after hanging up the phone with Caleb Gray, she called Ethan Miller again.
She just never expected that Ethan Miller would be so heartless.
“What did you say?”
Ethan Miller’s emotions were also ignited by Evelyn Hart’s words, and his tone was full of dissatisfaction.
“Are you blaming me now? I may not have had much time to spend with you and William, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t done anything. What you and William eat, where you live, and what you use-didn’t I pay for all of it with my money? It’s only right that you take care of William!”
Listening to his bandit logic, Evelyn Hart almost laughed.
She directly retorted in a mocking tone.
“Oh, so according to you, William and I should be grateful to you because you generously provided the necessities of life? Ethan Miller, do you think you’re particularly great and amazing?”
She also had a job and made material contributions to the family.
Now Ethan Miller was making his contributions sound so great while glossing over her efforts.
What was the diffe
between this and emotionally manipulation?
“Since you think m can buy everything, why don’t you just buy a new mother for William? Oh, right, I almost forgot. You’ve already found a new mother for William, so you don’t need to give anything else.”
There was a hint of disdain in Evelyn Hart’s words.
“I just wonder if Leah Foster will still treat William Miller as well as she does now when she really becomes his new mother.”
She could see clearly that the reason Leah Foster was being nice to William Miller now was entirely because of Ethan Miller’s money and status.
Once she really achieved her goal and became the mistress of the Miller family, her concern for William Miller would be greatly reduced.

Moreover, her current kindness to William Miller was completely a way of spoiling him. This excessive spoiling was not good for William Miller’s growth.
But she didn’t plan to say these things. After all, if Ethan Miller could really listen to what she said, the two of them wouldn’t have come to this point.
After saying these words, Evelyn Hart hung up the phone directly, not giving Ethan Miller any time to refute.
On the other end of the phone, Ethan Miller had just opened his mouth to say something but only heard the “beep, beep, beep” of the busy signal.
Ethan Miller held the phone in front of his eyes and stared intently at the screen that automatically returned to the home screen because the call had been hung up. His chest heaved several times.
Evelyn Hart was really becoming more and more unceremonious to him.
In the past, it was always him who hung up on Evelyn Hart. When had he ever been hung up on like this?
The anger in Ethan Miller’s heart was stuck there, neither going up nor down, making him very frustrated.
But he also remembered that William Miller was still lying in bed, unconscious due to the high fever. So he suppressed his anger and went to the nurse’s station. According to what Evelyn Hart had told him on the phone, he asked the nurse to change the antipyretics.
After the nurse brought the medicine and they returned to the ward together to change the medicine for William Miller, Ethan Miller took Leah Foster’s place and stood by the bed, quietly looking at William Miller’s peaceful sleeping
face.
William Miller’s breathing had become much more stable, and his face was no longer as flushed as before. This made Ethan Miller’s hanging heart relax a little.
He gently pulled the corner of the quilt to ensure that William Miller wouldn’t catch a cold.
Leah Foster stood beside him, looking surprised.
“Ethan, you’re so amazing. You actually know what medicine to use to make William’s fever go down so quickly.”
Hearing Leah Foster’s praise, Ethan Miller felt mixed emotions in his heart.
Because it was through Evelyn Hart’s phone call that he learned that William Miller’s constitution was so special and that ordinary antipyretics didn’t work on him at all.
Remembering the words Evelyn Hart had accused him of before, a guess suddenly flashed in Ethan Miller’s mind.
Could it be that Evelyn Hart was so angry because of his previous neglect and the words William Miller had said without thinking?
But she had never been so petty before, had she?
Leah Foster looked at Ethan Miller, who hadn’t spoken for a long time, and felt a little uneasy.
“Ethan, what’s wror
Ethan Miller came. to his senses when she called him but waved his hand.
“You’ve worked hard taking care of William here today. Your body isn’t fully recovered yet, so go back and rest first.”
Leah Foster’s eyes flickered slightly. She was just about to say that she wasn’t tired to show her thoughtfulness, but seeing Ethan Miller’s somewhat strange expression, the words turned around in her mouth and were finally
swallowed back.
“Okay. If you need me, just call me.”
Leah Foster placed her hand on Ethan Miller’s shoulder, and her eyes, as clear as autumn water, sparkled with a gentle light.
Ethan Miller just gently patted the back of her hand to signal her to rest assured.

On the other side.
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn Hart called her mentor again.
“Caleb, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.” Evelyn Hart said with a hint of guilt.
Caleb Gray didn’t seem to mind. “It’s okay. I don’t have anything urgent to deal with right now, and you didn’t make me wait for too long. So, have you sorted out your personal matter?”
Earlier, when she was discussing the patient’s condition with Caleb Gray, she had been distracted and absent-minded.
Caleb Gray noticed her odd behavior, showed his concern, and told her to deal with her own business first, which led
to the call to Ethan Miller.
“Yes, it’s all sorted out. Caleb, let’s get back to discussing the patient’s condition.”
Evelyn Hart composed herself and refocused on the matter at hand. “I said earlier that I’ve reviewed relevant medical records from recent years. Similar cases to your friend’s symptoms are not common, but there are still a few that we
can refer to.”
As she spoke, Evelyn Hart held the mouse in one hand and clicked on the screen twice. “I found that a hospital admitted a patient with similar symptoms this year. I just don’t know what the treatment process was like and what
the final outcome was.”
Evelyn Hart’s eyes were fixed on the computer screen. She was browsing through the medical records while explaining to Caleb Gray.
Upon hearing this, Caleb Gray became excited. “Which hospital is it? I’ll ask someone to contact them right away!”
If they could figure out the patient’s medical record and understand the treatment process, maybe they could persuade his friend to change his mind and regain the hope of getting treated.
