Chapter 36 Why Are You Helping Others?
Evelyn Hart’s train of thought was interrupted, and she looked up.
There was a crowd gathered in front of her, and cries for help could be heard from time to time.
Evelyn Hart was about to leave, but the voice inside seemed to be William Miller’s.
After a moment of hesitation, she resolutely pushed through the crowd and made her way to the front.
After all, William Miller was her son.
Moreover, as a doctor, she couldn’t turn a blind eye when someone was in need.
Sure enough, she wasn’t wrong. She saw William Miller in the crowd.
She didn’t know what had happened, but William Miller’s clothes and hair were all messy.
There seemed to be a scrape on his palm, with blood seeping out, and there were some bruises on his face, as if he had
been beaten.
He looked at his palm, and tears immediately welled up in his eyes as he kept crying in pain.
“It hurts, it hurts so much…”
Leah Foster crouched beside William Miller, constantly comforting him.
“Be good, William. It doesn’t hurt. We’ll go home right away. It’s okay.”
Next to them, there was another child lying on the ground, bleeding from his head and already semi-conscious.
A middle-aged woman held him in her arms, tears streaming down her face as she kept pleading with the people
around.
“Please, please, save my son.”
It was obvious that there had been a dispute between William Miller and the other child.
But she didn’t know exactly what had happened.
Evelyn Hart made a prompt decision and said loudly, “I’m a doctor. Let me handle this.”
Hearing the familiar voice, William Miller immediately looked up. When he saw it was Evelyn Hart, his eyes lit up
instantly.
He hadn’t seen Evelyn Hart for a long time. Although he didn’t say it out loud, he still missed her.
Especially now, when he was injured. In the past, Evelyn Hart would have immediately hugged him in distress and taken care of his wound.
Remembering the past, William Miller suddenly felt wronged and even shouted at Evelyn Hart, “What are you doing here? I don’t need you.”
To his surprise, Evelyn Hart just gave him a cold glance and then turned to the other child.
Fortunately, to facilitate her research on treatment plans recently, she always carried a first-aid kit with her.
She immediately took out gauze, alcohol, and silver needles.
Leah Foster’s eyes flickered. Seeing that there was only one band-aid left in Evelyn Hart’s first-aid kit, she immediately said to Evelyn Hart, “Dr. Hart, you’re here. Come and take a look at William. His palm is still bleeding.”
Evelyn Hart ignored them. Her hands moved quickly as she manipulated the silver needles. Soon, the unconscious child slowly woke up.
Putting away the silver needles, Evelyn Hart let out a sigh of relief. She immediately disinfected the child’s wound and was about to apply the band-aid.
Seeing this, Leah Foster rushed over and snatched the band-aid from Evelyn Hart’s hand, objecting, “Dr. Hart, William is still injured. Since this child has woken up, it means he’s okay. This band-aid should be used on William.”

The unconscious child had only received first-aid treatment and still looked weak.
Jostled by Leah Foster, the wound started bleeding again, and Evelyn Hart’s face darkened.
But Leah Foster seemed oblivious and continued to scold Evelyn Hart, “Dr. Hart, you’re going too far. William is also injured, but you only care about an outsider. Is this how a mother should behave?”
“William just touched that child lightly, and he fainted. I think he’s just pretending. On the contrary, William’s wound looks so painful. You’re being too heartless.”
The weak child heard this and weakly tried to explain, “Auntie, that’s not true. I didn’t pretend. I really fainted just
now.”
Evelyn Hart immediately soothed him, “It’s okay, auntie believes you. Don’t move. The ambulance will be here soon. I’ve just given you emergency treatment, and you still need to go to the hospital for a full-body check-up.” Looking at the large bump on the boy’s forehead, Evelyn Hart turned around, snatched the band-aid from Leah Foster’s hand, and reapplied it to the boy’s wound.
Leah Foster looked at Evelyn Hart in disbelief and pretended to be shocked, “Dr. Hart, you’re going too far. This belongs to William.”
As she spoke, she tried to grab it back. Evelyn Hart couldn’t hold back anymore and slapped Leah Foster across the
face.
“Shut up. This is mine.”
Leah Foster’s tears immediately welled up, and she accused Evelyn Hart, “Dr. Hart, even if you hit me, I still have to say, you’re really going too far. William is your own son.”
Evelyn Hart ignored Leah Foster and turned to look at William Miller’s wound.
It was just a minor scrape, not serious. But with so many stones on the ground, it still needed some treatment.
Evelyn Hart took out the alcohol and approached William Miller. But to her surprise, William Miller angrily pushed
her away.
“Go away! Leave me alone! Don’t touch me! You’re not my mother at all!”
Evelyn Hart was pushed to the ground. Her hand landed on a sharp stone, and it hurt.
But the physical pain couldn’t compare to the pain in her heart. Looking at William Miller in front of her, she felt extremely disappointed.
Since William Miller didn’t want her help, Evelyn Hart’s expression turned cold, and she turned to leave.
Just then, Ethan Miller walked over.
When he saw Evelyn Hart, he frowned slightly, his eyes filled with disgust. “Why are you here? Are you stalking me?” Evelyn Hart sneered and retorted, “Narcissism is a disease, Mr. Miller. I advise you not to shy away from treatment.” After saying that, she tried to leave. But unexpectedly, Leah Foster suddenly threw herself into Ethan Miller’s arms and began to complain, “I’m sorry, Ethan. I didn’t take good care of William. I’ve already tried to persuade Dr. Hart to treat William first, but she wouldn’t listen…”
Ethan Miller frowned and then looked down at William Miller.
There he was, sitting on the ground with blood still seeping from his palm, looking extremely miserable.
The child opposite had all his wounds treated and even had a band-aid on.
Based on Leah Foster’s words, it wasn’t hard to guess that this was Evelyn Hart’s doing.
His temper flared up instantly. He grabbed Evelyn Hart’s arm tightly, “Evelyn Hart, why are you being so
unreasonable? William is your child. How can you treat him like this?”
Seeing Ethan Miller, William Miller felt even more wronged. He hugged Ethan Miller’s leg and burst into tears, “It

hurts, Dad. It hurts so much…”
Ethan Miller was still seething with anger, his chest heaving violently. He looked at Evelyn Hart with intense anger, “You’ve really let me down.”
Evelyn Hart remained calm, not caring at all. “Do as you please.”
William Miller sobbed and accused Evelyn Hart, “I don’t want this mother anymore. She’s not my mother. She only saved that other kid and gave my band-aid to him… Make her leave. I never want to see her again…”
Evelyn Hart was stunned. Only then did she notice that the band-aid she gave to the boy was the same style she had always prepared for William Miller.
After moving out of the villa, she didn’t need band-aids anymore, so she had forgotten to buy new ones. The one in the first-aid kit today was indeed the last one.
The words she originally wanted to say to explain were swallowed back when she heard William Miller’s words.
Right, she had been overthinking.
William Miller had already said that he hated her.
