Chapter 55 Evelyn, He’s Just Using You
“Yeah, when I arrived, you…”
Leah Foster’s expression changed slightly, and she didn’t finish her sentence.
Ethan Miller understood everything and felt a wave of anger wash over him, his fists clenched tightly, making a cracking sound.
He couldn’t accept that Evelyn had truly pushed him out of her heart.
It had to be Grayson Hayes; he must not have told Evelyn about this.
If Evelyn knew, she surely wouldn’t remain indifferent.
Ethan Miller kept reminding himself of this, slowly regaining his composure.
Meanwhile.
Evelyn was not focused on Ethan Miller’s situation.
She was busy discussing follow-up treatment plans with Grayson Hayes.
After countless hours of collaboration, they finally identified an optimal treatment plan, which only lacked a specific medicinal ingredient.
The source of this ingredient was Capital, exclusive to the Parker Group.
if this product could be developed, it would delay the progression of most diseases on the market.
After discussing it, Evelyn and Grayson Hayes decided to approach the Parker Group for a partnership.
They informed their mentor about it via phone, who offered full support.
“Evelyn, Grayson, pursue this to the fullest. Leave the other matters to me.”
Evelyn exchanged a glance with Grayson Hayes. Grayson wanted to make the call right away, but Evelyn stopped him.
“I want to handle this negotiation myself.”
Grayson Hayes immediately understood her intention and nodded in agreement.
“Alright, but if you need any assistance, feel free to reach out.”
Evelyn smiled at Grayson Hayes.
“You’ve already helped me a lot, but since I’ve decided to start anew, this is my first step.”
Grayson Hayes quietly stayed by Evelyn’s side, providing her with ample information about the Parker Group.
On the other side.
Ethan Miller was at the hospital. After a week of rest, he was feeling much better.
Upon returning to the company, he threw himself into work and learned that the company’s biggest project was a partnership with the Parker Group for a batch of medicinal materials.
Though the Parker Group was a relatively small pharmaceutical company, they had a time-honored approach to cultivating their ingredients.
As a result, many pharmaceutical businesses sought to partner with them, which had become their leverage.
However, very few managed to secure a partnership with them. After reviewing the project proposal, Ethan Miller made a judgment.
If they could land a deal with the Parker Group, the company would profit by at least sixty percent.
A manager stood cautiously opposite Ethan Miller, reporting carefully.
“Mr. Miller, I’ve visited several times, but the president of the Parker Group refuses to meet.”
Ethan Miller scoffed, speaking with evident coldness.
“Pathetic. Is this your answer to me?”
The other managers bowed their heads, staring at their shoes, too afraid to speak up, yet internally boiling with frustration.
How dare that CEO Parker, a mere herbal merchant, dismiss them so rudely?
Ethan Miller berated those present, his annoyance spiking at their cowardice.
“Get out of my sight,” he barked.
The managers hurriedly left Ethan Miller’s office, feeling like they had escaped a reprimand.
Ethan Miller meticulously reviewed the documents and decided to visit in person.
However, he didn’t expect to run into Evelyn at CEO Parker’s office.
In an instant, he recalled the humiliation he’d suffered at her hands, anger flooding his system.
He strode up to Evelyn, sneering coldly.
“Evelyn, so you did come after all, but I won’t accept your apology.”
Upon turning, Evelyn was struck by the sight of his loathsome face, instantly dampening her mood.
Hearing Ethan Miller’s words made her stomach turn.
“Ethan Miller, if you’re sick, just take a left out the door and stop tormenting me.”
With that, she walked straight to the front desk, smiling as she spoke.
“Hello, my name is Evelyn. I’d like to see your chairman; I want to discuss a potential collaboration.”
The receptionist glanced at Evelyn and nodded, making a call to the secretary’s office.
“Alright, miss, do you have an appointment? The secretary says that without one, our chairman is not meeting with anyone at this time.”
Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed but insisted.
“No, but could you help me schedule one?”
The receptionist smiled politely but distantly.
“Sure, miss. I’ve informed the secretary, and once there’s news, they’ll let you know. May I take your contact information?” Evelyn realized the receptionist was merely going through the motions but left her contact details nonetheless.
She also handed a small gift to the receptionist.
“Thank you, and if there’s any information, please let me know immediately.”
The receptionist hesitated but, after Evelyn’s insistence, accepted the gift and promised to keep an eye out.
Ethan Miller finally regained his composure, realizing that Evelyn’s goals aligned with his.
His rationality returned, but he immediately recalled that Evelyn was working for Grayson Hayes.
Anger flared within him as he scoffed.
“Evelyn, Grayson Hayes is only using you. I can’t believe you’re willing to be his lapdog.”
Though Ethan Miller feigned disdain, jealousy gnawed at him.
Why?
Just a person he had known for a few weeks, and Evelyn went this far for him?
He didn’t understand and couldn’t fathom why, when she was so close, Evelyn would choose to be Mrs. Miller. Now, she preferred to endure humiliation rather than return home with him; what did Grayson Hayes have that he didn’t? “Evelyn, I will secure this partnership with the Parker Group; you should save your effort. You can’t compete with me.”
Evelyn was too disinterested in Ethan Miller’s harsh words and simply replied.
“Then we’ll let our abilities speak for themselves.”
With that, she turned and exited the Parker Group building.
She knew that trying to meet CEO Parker directly might not work; she needed to approach the situation differently.
Ethan Miller watched Evelyn’s retreating figure, eventually redirecting his gaze.
Evelyn could take her time to settle scores; securing the partnership was more vital.
He returned to the front desk, his demeanor proud and aloof.
“I’m Ethan Miller, president of the Miller Group. Please inform your chairman that I have a collaboration to discuss with him.”
Ethan Miller’s name was quite well-known.
The receptionist, not wishing to delay, promptly called the secretary’s office.
Shortly after, she hung up the phone and addressed Ethan Miller politely.
“Mr. Miller, our chairman has requested that you come upstairs. He will meet you in the conference room on the thirtieth floor.”
Ethan Miller nodded slightly and followed the staff to the thirtieth floor.
As the elevator doors opened, a middle-aged man accompanied by five people awaited at the entrance. Spotting Ethan Miller,
he broke into a smile and extended his hand.
Mr. Miller, it’s great to finally meet you. I’m Khari Parker, president of the Parker Group.”
