Chapter 54 Ethan Miller Got Beaten Up
“Grayson Hayes, don’t get too cocky. Evelyn is just mad at me; once she cools off, she’ll naturally come back to my side.” “You’re just a toy for her to pass the time with. She won’t ever be with you.”
Ethan Miller, filled with an inexplicable confidence, boldly provoked Grayson Hayes as they made their way downstairs. Grayson Hayes smirked disdainfully, and then, fueled by Ethan Miller’s arrogant gaze, he landed a powerful punch. “Ethan Miller, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and today you’ve practically delivered yourself to me. It would be rude not to hit you.”
With a tremendous force, the punch knocked Ethan’s face sideways, blood instantly pooling at the corner of his mouth.
Realizing what had just happened, Ethan attempted to retaliate, but Grayson, seizing the advantage, landed another punch on the other side of his face, making it perfectly symmetrical.
As Ethan struggled on the ground, seething with rage, he summoned all his strength and finally broke free from Grayson’s
grasp.
“Grayson Hayes, how dare you hit me!”
Grayson Hayes scoffed, uninterested in further banter, and aimed another kick.
However, this time Ethan was ready. He dodged with ease.
In that moment, he didn’t bother to exchange words. Wiping the blood from his lips with determination, he lunged at Grayson
Hayes.
Grayson Hayes didn’t avoid him. As Ethan swung, he delivered a heavy kick against him.
The two quickly became entangled in a fierce struggle, both being doctors targeting each other’s vulnerable spots.
Just when Grayson seemed to be getting the upper hand, he suddenly waved at a group standing nearby.
Moments later, a squad of bodyguards clad in black approached. Ethan widened his eyes, nearly spitting up blood.
“Grayson Hayes, you’re despicable!”
Grayson Hayes chuckled coldly.
“Who wants to fight you one-on-one when I can have a group take you down instead?”
With that, he gestured to the bodyguards, his tone dismissive.
“Take him down.”
Ethan hadn’t brought any bodyguards with him this time.
Faced with superior numbers, he quickly found himself surrounded by the bodyguards, who unleashed a relentless beating.
As the blows rained down, his consciousness began to blur, and his cries grew fainter.
Finally, when he fell silent and passed out, Grayson Hayes ordered the bodyguards to stop.
He discreetly signaled for them to retreat, glanced at the unconscious Ethan, and then turned to leave.
As for Grayson Hayes, he suffered only minor injuries, much lighter than what Ethan experienced; his were merely playful scratches.
Rubbing his wrist, he ascended the staircase again.
After a moment’s hesitation, he knocked on Evelyn’s door.
Evelyn opened the door, and upon seeing the bruises on Grayson’s face, she pulled him inside, frowning.
“He hit you?”
Her tone was heavily laden with discontent, and Grayson subtly curled his lips in a hint of a smile.
In response to Evelyn’s inquiry, he didn’t lie and admitted candidly.
“No, he was just running his mouth downstairs. I couldn’t hold back and threw the first punch.”
“Ugh…” Evelyn paused, caught between laughter and tears, “It was just a few words. It’s not worth getting worked up over.” Grayson arched an eyebrow, his voice soft and sincere.
“What do you mean ‘not worth it’? You’re mine, and he has no right to run wild while I’m around.”
“It’s not that he’s being bold just because he has no backing. Evelyn, you don’t have to take any nonsense here; not even a single
word.”
Not a single word.
Evelyn hesitated, the warmth in her heart escaping through unspoken words.
After everything she had been through, she never imagined encountering someone as good as Grayson Hayes.
She lowered her gaze, her fingertips trembling, her voice tinged with sorrow.
“Are you hurt? Is he badly injured?”
If he was, it might lead to trouble. Evelyn sighed inwardly.
Grayson, slightly displeased, mistook her concern for Ethan Miller’s wellbeing, his tone growing a bit cold.
“Nothing serious; he’ll survive. It was just a group beating. He’ll probably need to spend a few days in the hospital.”
Evelyn shot Grayson a glance, her brow furrowed in thought.
“That could be a problem; Ethan Miller doesn’t seem the type to let things slide.”
Evelyn suddenly felt nervous and grabbed Grayson’s sleeve.
“Maybe you should go home and hide for a few days?”
Grayson finally grasped her reaction.
“Are you worried I’ll be targeted for revenge?”
Evelyn nodded, looking confused.
“Of course. Even though Ethan Miller looks composed, he’s really not a decent person.”

Grayson chuckled, genuinely amused.
This was the first time he heard Evelyn speak of Ethan Miller in such a way.
Evelyn, feeling a bit annoyed, playfully pinched his arm.
“Stop laughing! I’m trying to be serious here; Ethan Miller isn’t exactly magnanimous.”
Grayson waved his hand casually, dismissing her worry.
“Don’t worry about it. He doesn’t have the guts to touch me. On the surface, the Miller family and Hayes family seem evenly
matched, but pushing Ethan Miller out isn’t difficult; it’s just my word against him.”
“Ethan Miller and my family have business dealings; it’s the kind that can affect everything. Their core technology was
developed by my company.”
Upon hearing this, Evelyn felt a little more at ease.
“Oh, I didn’t know that.”
Grayson regarded Evelyn as one of his own, not minding sharing these details with her.
“Yes, outsiders don’t know. My family values discretion. After all, it’s best not to draw attention to ourselves. While it may seem
like we share equal footing with the Miller family, many of the interconnected businesses you’re unaware of actually belong to
us.”
Evelyn was genuinely surprised.
“I didn’t realize your family was this powerful. If your medical career doesn’t work out, you might have to go home and take over
the family business.”
Grayson shrugged, a bit exasperated.
“Honestly, even if I study medicine, I’ll still have to come back and run the business. I make decisions on ninety-five percent of what goes on in the company.”
Evelyn blinked, a smile creeping onto her face.
“I underestimated you, Mr. Hayes.”
As she tended to his wounds, bantering lightheartedly, the atmosphere between them became warm and congenial.
When Ethan Miller woke up, he found himself in the hospital.
Leah Foster sat by his side, and when she saw him regain consciousness, she quickly leaned in, full of concern.
“Ethan, you’re awake? Are you hungry? Do you want some water?”
Ethan nodded, attempting to sit up, but as soon as he moved, every muscle in his body screamed in pain, forcing him to
abandon the effort.
Leah didn’t notice and brought the cup to his lips.
Only after Ethan gestured that he had enough did her expression shift to one of deep worry.
“Ethan, what happened? Who attacked you? If I hadn’t been worried and gone downstairs to check on Dr. Hart, I wouldn’t have known you were unconscious and covered in injuries.”
A flicker of harshness crossed Ethan’s eyes.
Damn Grayson Hayes!
But he couldn’t touch Grayson, so he dismissed it with a careless remark.
“I don’t know; someone ambushed me from behind.”
He seemed to suddenly remember something, his face darkening.
“Wait, are you the one who brought me to the hospital?”
