She had no clue if the little triggerfish could rat them out to the mermaids, but if it could, they were screwed. No way could they let this little guy slip away.

This was the same little triggerfish that had popped in earlier.

Emmett lunged to snatch the fish, but the little triggerfish was slippery as hell. He just couldn’t get a hold of it.

The little triggerfish freaked out. “These mermaids are so scary! You must be the traitors the others are hunting for!”

The little triggerfish whimpered, “I won’t snitch, I promise! Just let me go!”

When Emmett kept missing, Leeanne got anxious. “Gideon, get it! Take it out!”

Emmett yelled, “No, no, let me catch it!”

He grabbed a small fishing net, dropped it over the little triggerfish, and scooped it up. Then he took out a plastic bottle and sealed the triggerfish inside.

Leeanne asked, surprised, “Why did you grab it?”

This little guy couldn’t communicate with people at all. Only she could make sense of its endless chatter thanks to the Ocean Bell.

Emmett grinned, clearly delighted. “I’m gonna keep it as a pet. This little guy’s got it all-quick, clever, and pretty adorable.”

Leeanne didn’t even know what to say.
