anne hoge for a moment.
Is the Mermaid Queen really trying to hunt us down?‘ Leeanne wondered. ‘Well, we did overhear some big secrets. The Queen probably wants to wipe us out for good.
And it wasn’t just Leeanne. Gideon and Emmett weren’t spared either.
[The Mermaid Queen has issued a bounty mission to hunt down Gideon.]
[Players can kill Gideon and get a big reward from the Queen.]
[The Mermaid Queen has issued a bounty mission to hunt down Emmett.]
[Players can kill Emmett and get a big reward from the Queen.]
As soon as the bounty mission was announced, the players exploded with excitement.
[Whoa, what happened? Leeanne’s really on the Mermaid Queen’s hit list?]
[If we take out Leeanne, we can claim a reward from the Queen? This is awesome!]
[Lol, seriously, you really wanna take the Queen’s mission? The last group who tried either got wrecked, hunted down, or straight–up blacklisted. You still wanna risk it?]
[For real! The Mermaid Queen totally screwed over a bunch of players. Only idiots would take her mission!]
[Man, the Mermaid Queen’s reputation is ruined!]
Players were cracking jokes, but almost nobody actually wanted to take on the mission.
No way, the last group who finished the Queen’s quest got instantly killed by her.
No one even dared take her quest
Besides, Leeanne and Gideon were nearly impossible to kill. Taking this mission was just asking to get wrecked.
In the Assault Squad group chat, Rodger and Danelle were asking about the Queen’s bounty mission and what was happening on Leeanne’s end.
Leeanne didn’t want to explain much, so she just brushed them off.
Leeanne watched Mila, the mermaid princess, sprawled on the ground with worry in her eyes.

After a rinse from the seawater, the pale blue shade Mila had picked up earlier faded away, and her color returned to that dark, mysterious blue.
The section of Mila’s tail that had been injured was dark and nasty, almost oozing pus, giving off waves of foul stench. Leeanne was seriously worried Mila might not make it.
After a while, that part of Mila’s tail had completely rotted away, revealing the stark white bones beneath. The sight was downright horrifying.
Emmett shivered. “Wait… is Mila… Did she just kick the bucket?”
He made a dramatic gesture, as if someone had just dropped dead.
Leeanne leaned in to check Mila’s breathing–it was barely there, and her forehead felt feverish to the touch.
‘Mila’s really in trouble now,‘ Leeanne thought.
But she didn’t dare use any healing salve on Mila. The last time she tried, it not only failed, but actually made the wound worse. She figured ordinary medicine wouldn’t help at all.
“What do we do now?” Emmett muttered.
The three of them looked at each other, completely lost.
Leeanne let out a helpless sigh. After thinking for a bit, she pulled out a mysterious cherry, propped Mila up, squeezed out some juice, and gently let her drink it.
Mila’s breathing got a little steadier, but the rotten part of her tail kept spreading, and even more of the bones were starting to show.
Leeanne stared at the chunk of bone showing through, stunned for a second.
‘Wait, why does that look so familiar?‘ she thought. ‘Come to think of it, I’ve got a Mermaid Bone in my inventory that looks just like this tailbone. Is it actually a piece of a mermaid’s tail?‘
Just as she was lost in thought, Mila coughed twice and opened her eyes.,
Leeanne hurried over and asked, “Mila, how do we fix your tail? Is there anything that can help you heal? Just tell us, and we’ll go get it for you.”
Mila glanced at her tail and gave a bitter, helpless smile. “I don’t know what my mom used on me, but this wound isn’t going to heal. I… I don’t think I’ve got much time left.”
Emmett cried out, “That’s impossible!”
Mila said flatly, like she really didn’t care. “If I die, so be it. Life’s got nothing for me anyway… I don’t even
have a mom…
Everything she’d just learned was a gut punch, like realizing the Queen wasn’t her real mother, that the Queen

had always wanted her dead, and that the bounty mission was only issued because the Queen found out Mila had become a corrupted mermaid.
Every bit of it broke her heart, leaving her totally lost and not knowing what to do.
Before. Mila had put her life on the line to get Leeanne and the others out. She just wanted to save them, Couldn’t stand the idea of them dying because of her.
Now that everyone was out of danger, Mila no longer had anything weighing on her heart.
Mila’s eyes fluttered shut, her breath growing fainter with every passing moment.
Leeanne grew anxious.
Suddenly, she remembered the Mermaid Bone she had. She pulled it out and asked, “Mila, can this Mermaid Bone help you in any way?”
Mila opened her eyes, reached out, and took the Mermaid Bone from Leeanne.
As soon as her hand touched it, the bone began to emit a gentle, slowly blooming white light that wrapped
around her.
Leeanne was suddenly shoved back several steps by an unseen force, putting distance between her and Mila.
Bathed in the soft, glowing white light, the Mermaid Bone floated gently into the air. It brushed Mila’s hand, then drifted down and lightly touched her tail.
As soon as it made contact, Mila’s wound started to heal. New skin and muscle grew over the injury, and all the mud and tangled Mila vanished without a trace.
In just moments, that section of her tail looked good as new.
Leeanne, Emmett, and Gideon were totally blown away. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Mila was dumbfounded too, her cheeks tinged with red as she fixated on the Mermaid Bone, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
The Mermaid Bone glided gently along Mila’s tail, and everywhere it touched, her tail shimmered with vibrant color, smooth and spotless, like it had just been polished to perfection.
All the wounds, big and small, were completely restored, leaving not a single mark behind.
Each scale sparkled brilliantly, as if Mila was a brand new person.
Mila gazed at the Mermaid Bone, her eyes full of longing and wonder, completely captivated by its magic.
The Mermaid Bone floated upward, gently touching Mila’s arms. Instantly, the wounds vanished, and her skin, once darker, became pale and flawless.
She looked absolutely spotless.

The Mermaid Bone continued its ascent, gliding over Mila’s long hair. Her hair had once been woven into an intricate braid, but now it was a tangled mess.
As the Mermaid Bone passed by, it was as if her hair was magically unraveled and then woven anew, smooth and perfect.
Mila’s hair became lustrous and thick, gleaming as if she’d just washed and combed it.
The Mermaid Bone floated across Mila’s checks, gently touching her skin and wiping away the blood and dirt bit by bit, until her face was completely clean.
At last, it tapped her forehead with a feather–light touch–almost like a gentle kiss–then rolled right into her lap.
Mila was hit like a bolt out of the blue. She just stood there, stunned, and the tears she’d been holding back finally broke free, streaming down her face.
