Chapter 44: She’s Gone?

Kai’s POV

I shove the rotten ex–beta forward. He turns to growl at me, but I growl in return. Blasting him with my alpha aura and forcing him to submit to the floor like the coward he is. ‘He should be thankful that he was

sentenced to prison.’ Titan says in my head as I reel back my aura.

He is right. I wanted to snap his fucking neck. He put his hands on Karisma. He tried to fake memories to blame Karisma. I didn’t like the thought of him trying to turn others against her just because she was half vampire. Karisma seemed like a wonderful person. I thought more so after she healed Ben when his father

slit his wrist.

Though, to be fairly honest, I didn’t like it that her lips were touching another male. I mentally shake my head. ‘Why was their girl under my skin?‘ I asked Titan. Not once has any female caught my attention the

way Karisma has, and she is not trying at all.

I am not one to be vain or anything, but I have had a fair number of females and males try to get my attention… Some of them, I think, were just some kind of challenge that they thought they could win because I made it clear that I wanted my goddess’s gifted mate from the very beginning.

Hearing someone clearing their throat made me turn. I then bowed my head in respect towards Alpha Liam. “Hello, Alpha Liam. Luna Sonia.” I greeted. Alpha Liam was a kind and fair alpha to his pack, but he was one who didn’t sugarcoat anything. His pack is known as one of the top warrior packs in the kingdom because all his pack members train. Even Luna Sonia is a skilled fighter and a master with knives.

Alpha Liam nodded to me. “I read the sss that Luna Queen Melody sent. Though I fear our good queen is being as kind as ever with her sentencing of these two wolves… I will follow her commands.” He said. Nodding to his warriors to escort Park and Roger to their new homes.

“It may seem kind, but Luna Melody felt that death would have been too easy for them. She did say that if they cause you any trouble here within your lands, that you are free to punish them however you see fit, given that they do not die until their original sentence has been served.” My sister Riley said as she held

out a letter to the luna. The letter had the Queen’s wax seal on the back.

Most think that Lady Melody is truly too kind, but she only wishes that those who break the law within her kingdom are held accountable for their actions. Though it is mostly for those who were wronged in the process. Simply killing the culprit would not right the wrong done to them or a loved one. Besides, those who have lived in luxury would rather die than have to live like a common person.

All of a sudden, I felt the need to return to the Royal Moon pack and check on Karisma. I stood up and gave another polite bow to Alpha Liam and Luna Sonia. “Feel free to contact us should anything arise from

your new prisoners. We will be returning to the Royal Moon pack.” I said.

Alpha Liam nodded in return. “Of course. Please have a safe trip home and give the King and Queen our regards.” He said, returning the bow. Then, when I could think clearly again, Riley and I were on the return

The Royal Moon Pack is lucrative enough to have about three private jets at its disposal. Though Riley and I could use our magic to teleport anywhere. Uncle Luca asked us not to just pop in and out anywhere without permission. Apparently, when we did that as children, some of the alphas thought we were using it to spy on them, and it almost caused an uproar.

It took almost a whole week of negotiating with the other packs, but we eventually got them to agree that we would use normal transportation, such as jets or cars, on normal visits… teleport ‘OUTSIDE‘ the pack’s territory for inspections of rogues or other anomalies reported to the king and queen… and directly teleport to the alpha’s office for an extreme emergency, like war or natural disasters.

The sinker from my sister drew my attention to her from the window. I raised a brow at her. “What?” I asked. Riley gives me a shit–eating grin as she wiggles her brows back at me. “What has got you so eager to return home? Normally, you avoid the pack as much as you can, given there is a certain female that still

chases after you.” She said.

I glare at her because, given that she is my twin, she already knows the answer to her question. She just likes to be a pest and makes me say it out loud. I growl at her and turn away from her. I am not going to indulge her this time. Titan snickers inside my head. ‘That is what you say every time.’ He said with humor

in his voice.

I scoffed at his tone and ignored both him and Riley… Though my twin had other plans.

“Oh… I get it. It has something to do with a certain female who is staying at the castle for the time being. Doesn’t it, big brother?” She asked while pulling on my cheek like she was still a little kid. I growled and tried to ignore it, until she switched to using her nails instead of her fingers to pinch my cheek.

“Come on, big brother. You have to admit that Karisma is the little cutie. Besides,, I caught your scent yesterday morning when you walked into the dining room and saw her. Has the big bad dragon found an adorable mate?” She teased as she pinched and pulled. I growled out and put my whole hand on top of

her face and pushed her off of me.

Using my thumb and pinky, I applied pressure on her temples. “Oww. Oww. Oww.” Riley squealed as she gripped my wrist in efforts to try and pry my hand off her face. I would never harm any of my siblings, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t put them in their places when they are being brats. That is the birthright of

all elder siblings. “Whatever this is between Karisma and I is between the goddess.” I playfully growl before lightly pushing her away from me. Riley pouts as she returns to her seat and mumbles about forcing me to join her next tea party with the young princesses. I simply roll my eyes and return my gaze out the

window.

If she is my true goddess gifted mate, then I would have been able to sense her by now. Her scent is sweet, but it doesn’t fill me with the heart–pounding feeling that everyone else has talked about. For now, I will just stay close and see if anything changes once she comes of age.

A few hours later…

“What do you mean that Karisma is gone?!”

I am standing in Uncle Luca’s office while he, Uncle Jeremiah, and Uncle Drake are finalizing a treaty agreement with Alpha Philip’s pack. I am confused. I thought she would be staying here until her 18th birthday. Why all of a sudden would they allow her to leave to return home? ‘Maybe we could just make up an excuse to go to the Starlight Pack and visit. Titan said in my head.

“Yes, Karisma has gone to train in Edolas with your mother.” Uncle Drake said, watching me closely. I

stiffen at that thought. Mother is a wonderful person, but she is a strict teacher… but that makes me even

more curious. “Why is mother training her? And why in Edolas?” I asked.

Uncle Luca put the papers he was holding down and folded his hands together. Looking me in the eyes, he

was calm and direct with his answer. “Some personal information was brought to light during her medical

exam and the memory mind share we did after the trial. Karisma needs to increase her strength before

her birthday, otherwise she will not be able to handle the storm that is to come her way.” He said.

I felt a sickening feeling fill my stomach as my fingers twitched. It was not until Riley spoke up. “But her birthday is only a week away. There is not enough time to train her properly, even if she started now and in

Edolas.” She explained. The sick feeling spread in my stomach even more. That was true.

Even under mother’s guidance, she would need at the very least a full month to build the proper foundations within her own body before moving to more extreme training. Uncle Jeremiah looked between the two of us and gave us a small smile. “Your mother has already taken that into consideration.”

He said.

Riley and I both looked at him in confusion. “Jasmine has taken Karisma to the dragon kingdom in order to use their sacred training grounds within the Carverns of Kornos.” He explained. I gulped. The legendary caverns would help with the time factor in training, but that means Karisma will be within the dragon king’s

lands for the next week.
