Chapter 45: Small Talk On The Way

I shiver as we finish passing through the dimensional rift that Alpha Jasmine and the others use to go

back and forth from Edolas. It felt like passing through some weird jelly wall without the jelly sticking to your body once you cross to the other side.

Alpha Jasmine chucked and told me that the more you go through it, the less weird it would feel. Though I don’t think I would be traveling much between the two worlds, I nodded in response.

We flew for a while before landing on a cliffside for lunch. Mother and Melody, who said to call her Ma when I became more comfortable with my new family, had packed us a box lunch before we left. Alpha Jasmine pulled it out of her magic bag like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

I had asked her why she carried a magic bag, and she told me about how her brother, Parker, had personally made the bag for her when she was younger. Apparently, there was once a time when water and food were scarce. Jasmine would always go into the forest to look for anything and everything to eat. On good days, when she would find a good source of food, it was a big hassle to bring it all back alone, and if she got others to help her, then they would bleed that area dry from their own greed and make things harder on everyone. Jasmine believed in only taking what was necessary and leaving most places

as natural as possible.

Parker looked for a way to help his sister and made her a magic bag so that she could harvest as much as she wanted, and only she would be able to pull anything out of it. It allowed her to harvest large amounts of food back without other people’s help and give it to those who needed it the most. It even had a space–time crystal installed in its core, so any food she put inside would be frozen in time.

She could piping hot meals inside it, and when she pulled them back out, they were still as hot and fresh as they were when they went in. “As harsh as it seems, in times of a great disaster, you need to keep your true worth hidden until you find those that you can fully trust.” She said.

I couldn’t imagine the hardship of keeping secrets from the whole pack, but I could see how it could be a problem. Those who only think of themselves would take everything and leave nothing for those who needed it. It makes me wonder if I could make those kinds of tough calls as the mother royal.

I look down at my palm, wondering if I am even the right person for this kind of responsibility. Jasmine seems to have read my mind and placed a to–go container in my palm, and gave me a big smile. “It does you no good to borrow trouble that has yet to come. Just take it day by day, and when in doubt… trust your vampire and wolf. There is a reason that they look at the world differently than you do.” She said.

I smiled and nodded, opening up the container and saw that it was a slice of my mother’s apple pie with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Both Winter and Angela were drooling in my head. This was our absolute favorite treat in the whole world. No one could make apple pie like Mother could

for a sweet treat. Apple pie was my absolute favorite treat, even though pears were my favorite fresh fruit.

My taste buds were weird like that sometimes.

“Enjoy it for now. Once we start training, I am putting you on a strict diet.” She said. That made my ice cream go down the wrong pipe. “Cough. Cough. A diet?! Cough.” I asked in the middle of choking.

Jasmine just laughed as she nodded. “It is specialized food that is to help your body adapt to the intense strain and power increase you are going to experience.” She explained. Once my airway was completely

cleared, I started asking more questions.

It turns out that after her year in purgatory, Parker helped her make special food tablets and recipes that

her body could keep down since regular food sometimes wouldn’t agree with her, and she would end up

throwing up shortly after eating.

“When you train in an area where time and space can have no meaning, no matter how small, then your body finds ways to adapt.” She explained. I gulped and nodded. ‘I just hope the food will at least taste

okay. Bitter and sour stuff was my worst enemy in the food world.

After we finished our lunch, Jasmine picked me up again and took off to the air. “How come you are

carrying me in your hybrid form and not in your dragon form?” I asked as we flew. Jasmine looked like she was trying to find the right words for a moment before she answered me.

“Well, for one, I am not a citizen of the dragon kingdom, so my coming in my dragon form could be seen

as a threat, since strong female dragons become very aggressive when they wish to mate.” She said. I felt

my jaw drop as my eyes widened. “Female dragons attack males that they wish to mate with?” I asked.

Jasmine nodded. “Just like with other supernatural beings. Females are drawn to any male with power

and authority, but because dragon females are also born fighters. They tend to challenge their males into

earning mating rights to them. If a male wins, then he gets to mate with her, though if the female is not her chosen or god’s gifted mate, then he will only spill his seed on their back afterwards.” She explained.

My face scruched up in disgust at the thought. “That sounds degrading.” I said in disgust. Not so sure if !

want a dragon mate now. Jasmine laughed. “I thought so too at first, until I learned why.” She said. I gave

her a look that I am sure told her that I thought she was bullshiting me. “And that reason is?”

“Powerful male dragon’s seed is extremely hot because it is based on their power. If it was shot inised of a female that did not share the male’s heart’s fire with, then with the high from the passion of mating the seed would scorch and melt the female’s channel and reproductive organs, causing her insane pain, and either rendering her barren, losing the chance to have offspring later, or could even kill them.” She

explained.

I gasped and then choked on the air that went into my lungs. ‘Okay, well damn… that is a good reason to not cum inside them. I thought while choking. “Wait, wouldn’t that mean that their skin would burn from the heat?” I asked. If a male’s seed was so hot it could cause that damage, then it would affect their skin

too… wouldn’t it.

Jasmine shook her head. “No. Even in human form, dragons are very resistant to high temperatures. The

only time it could become an issue is if the male and female were from different element factions.” She said. “Element factions?” I asked. It seems there was a lot more to dragons than I thought.

Jasmine nodded. “Element factions are basically like the packs under the Alpha King’s domain. Each one being in the ideal environment for the dragons that live there. As water dragons live in the deep seas, earth dragons live in the rocky mountains, and so on. Each one is under the control of one of the Dragon

King’s generals. Normally, dragons of certain types don’t engage with others so the only time that they cross paths is for a god’s mating.” She explained.

‘Hmmm. That is the second time she said gods and not goddess. Doesn’t the Moon Goddess select their

mates as well?‘ I felt Jasmine laugh before she spoke again. “I can see you have more questions, Kari.

Please feel free to ask, we still have time before we get to the dragon lands.”

“You have said gods… Doesn’t the Moon Goddess create their mates for them as she does us?” I asked.

Jasmine shakes her head. “While the Moon Goddess does sometimes choose a dragon for some of her

children to mate with. It is more like a council of three when it comes to mating dragons with others….
