Chapter 40: Waiting for her to Wake

Third Person POV

Dr. Soran was a smart man. He ran his hand through his short black hair. His thick–rimmed glasses are

sliding down his nose. He was holding a folder in his hand. One that contained very sensitive information.

He was worried about how his alpha and luna would react to the news. Taking a deep breath, he raised his

hand and knocked on the door to the meeting room that his king and queen were in.

Melody looked towards the door as the sound of knocking echoed in the silent room. Everyone was

wondering how to gently tell Karisma everything they learned without triggering another seizure.

Luca unlocked the door and opened it. Dr. Soran walked inside and waited while his alpha closed the door once more and locked it again. “Dr. Soran, how is she?” Melody asked. Soran cleared his throat and

scratched the back of his neck.

“We have the young lady sedated and sleeping comfortably in room A304, Luna.” he said. Melody nodded before lifting her hand towards Alpha Philip and Luna Elsa. “Please make clearance badges for Alpha Philip, Luna Elsa, Young Alpha Jason, and Miss Willow to enter the Alpha Wing of the hospital. They will have the same clearance as Riley and Kai.” she said.

Melody would make sure that they would feel at home here just as much as within their own pack. Riley and Kai had the most clearance, second only to Luca and herself. Dr. Soran was unsure if that would be

wise.

“Um, not that I wish to disobey your orders, my luna… but… ummm… I think you should see this first before we allow another alpha within the alpha wing of the hospital.” He said. The alpha wing was where the ranked members would be treated if they were ever injured, and it is only accessible to very few. Only a

handful of the medical staff can even set foot in that wing.

Dr. Soran is worried about another pack’s alpha being so close to the sleepy princess that was in his care. “I ran the blood tests along with the DNA test, as requested.” He said, bowing his head as he held out the folder towards Melody.

Melody took the folder and opened it. Quickly reading through the papers inside. Her blood tests all showed that Karisma was healthy, though her blood pressure was a bit on the high side. Flipping to the

next page, Melody read the DNA results.

Blood Type: AB Negative

Species: Vampire/Werewolf Hybrid

Adoptive Parents: Alpha Philip and Luna Elsa

Melody then scanned down to the bottom of the page. 100.00% DNA MATCH was written in large red

letters.

Pushing up his glasses. Dr. Soran cleared his throat. “Miss Karisma’s DNA is the perfect match to Princess Danica’s DNA.” He said. Melody closed the folder and looked up at him.

“We know, but thank you for the results.” Melody said. She would still need them in case anyone tried to challenge the fact that Karisma was of royal blood. “You know?” Dr. Soran asked, confused. Luca nodded. “Yes. It appears that our daughter was under the protection of the gods, and that was why we could never find her before.” Luca said.

Dr. Soran didn’t know what to say to that one. Even in the supernatural world, being spoken to by the gods was something that was hard to believe. Jason stepped closer to Melody and Luca. “Um…” He started. Not sure what to call them right now. “I think we should keep her true identity a secret for now.” he said.

Melody thought for a moment while Luca and Jeremiah growled at the suggestion. Melody was thinking of Kai. She and everyone else saw how Kai was before Danica was even born, and almost everyone knew that Kai would be my daughter’s mate.

‘We can not inform her who her mate is! Artemis said. Melody agreed with it. Besides, it will be less

stressful for Karisma to accept all of this on her own terms. Everyone would just confuse themselves and

everyone by jumping from Danica to Karisma anyway.

“I agree with Jason.” Melody said. Luca and Jeremiah turned their shocked expressions to their mate.

Melody held up her hand to keep both of them silent while she explained.

“We should speak about it with Karisma, but I think keeping her identity a secret.” Melody said. “I understand talking to Karisma about it, but why keep it a secret?” Jeremiah asked. “Because everyone

knows that Kai was going to be mated to our eldest daughter. You saw how he was when she was born,

and after we lost her.” Melody said.

Luca and Jeremiah went pale as they looked at each other. After Danica was stolen from them all those

years ago. Kai was so moody and always ready to fight anyone or anything. Alpha Jasmine had to stay in Royal Moon for a while so she could keep Kai restrained. It took a whole year before he accepted that his mate was lost to him for now. The only thing that kept him from going feral was that his beast soul, Titan,

knew that she was alive out there.

“We have a week and a half until her 18th birthday. I am sure that once she shifts, she will be better able to handle the transition into royal duties and such.” Melody said. Elsa nodded in agreement. “I agree with Melody. Besides, it should be Karisma’s choice.” she said.

Melody smiled. Luca and Jeremiah sighed, but agreed. “Dr. Soran. I would like you to be the primary doctor responsible for caring for Karisma. Only you and two nurses you trust will sign a non–disclosure agreement about Karisma’s identity or medical information.” Luca sald.

“Make sure the nurses who tend to her are not vampires. The smell of her blood would be too strong for them.” Jeremiah added. He didn’t need a vampire to connect the dots, and then things got out of hand

again. No matter what, there are always people who love to gossip. The more that they could keep

Karisma’s business a secret from Jasper. Then they would have the advantage.

Dr. Soran nodded and started to think of the nurses that he could trust with Karisma’s care. “And make

sure that Alpha Philip and his family get that clearance I asked for before. If we are going to keep the act

up, then her parents need to be able to see her.” Melody said while giving Elsa a playful wink.

Dr. Soran nodded again. “I will have everything handled within the next couple of hours, my queen.” He

bowed his head before heading for the door.

Willow turned to Melody. “Can we go see her now?” She asked. Melody smiled at her and nodded. “We

can all go visit her.

Following Melody and Luca. Willow and Jason were anxious to get to Karisma’s room. Seeing her on the

floor like that both shocked and scared them. Neither one could think of their lives without Karisma in

them.

Entering room A304, Willow let out a whimper as she saw her best friend hooked up to all kinds of

machines and monitors. ‘If you just take away all the medical equipment, then it just looks like she is

sleeping. Her wolf, Lexi, said. Lexi didn’t like it when Willow was upset about Karisma. It made Lexi protective of both of them. Willow internally laughed as she moved over to her best friend’s side.
