The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226

Crack!

A flash of lightning hit the charging zombie. Black smoke rose from its head as it froze in place. Then, it tipped forward and collapsed into the snow, completely lifeless.

The moment Liam’s lightning gift went out, fire orbs, water orbs, and flying metai blades followed right after it.

In seconds, the scattered zombies around them were wiped out.

In the zombie age, guns had serious limits.

Just like the time Hayley entered Aecraton, if a blade or a gift could solve it, no one used firearms.

Once guns went off, they would draw every zombie in the city. Such weapons were only useful in sealed rooms, desperate charges, or full-scale zombie swarms.

After clearing the entrance, Liam led the team straight toward the mall doors.

Hayley strolled along behind him and watched as Liam’s squad pulled out tools and went to work on the entrance.

A few quick movements later, the doors opened quietly with barely any noise.

Once again, Hayley felt that going on missions with Liam was incredibly comfortable. Almost everything was handled perfectly on his side.

Behind her, Wallace also noticed how professional Liam’s team was.

He brought up the rear with his people, his eyes darkening even more as he watched. Base K1 really was powerful.

At the same time, hiş attention shifted to Hayley.

Who exactly was that woman? Why did it look like she wasn’t doing anything at all?

Once inside, Liam’s team moved into the pitch-black mall, which had no power at all.

Liam tossed in a few flashbangs.

As the area lit up, scattered zombies were quickly drawn toward the light.

“Raarh…”

“Raarh…”

“Raarh…”

It was hard to tell whether the stores had opened early that day, or if some accident had trapped people inside.

Zombies began spilling out of the dark shop fronts. Most of them were dressed like clerks or store owners, and they were all pretty young.

One female zombie stood out.

Her style was fashionable. Her ash-gray curls were freshly done, and she wore a summer dress that hugged her figure and a pair of spotless white sneakers. There was barely a trace of blood or dirt on her.

She was nothing like the filthy zombies Hayley usually saw on the streets.

A sealed, quiet mall really did stay clean.

The only tragedy was her face.

From the corner of her mouth, half her face had been chewed away. Her right eye had no socket left to hold it and dangled limply against her cheek. The pale eyeball rolled upward as she charged at them, her legs bent backward at strange angles.

With every step, it looked like that eye might fall out at any moment.

Crack!

A small fire orb knocked her down, flames bursting across her chest.

“Fire-element Gifted, stop using your powers from now on ” Liam ordered the moment he saw the flames.

“Okay!”
