The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 250

Chapter 250

An hour later, everyone’s abilities were nearly drained.

After they switched to cold steel and went in to finish the rest, the entire street finally fell quiet.

This was Haylight League’s very first purge.

Hayley had chosen the outer edge of Aecraton, the High-Tech District, as their opening target.

It was right on the border of her territory, and the factory she had taken before was also in this district.

After locking in their teams, they held meetings all day and finally decided to start here and push inward bit by bit.

Streets would be their short-term objectives, and residential compounds their main battlefield.

This street and the two housing blocks nearby were today’s targets. To avoid drawing in even more zombies with gunfire, the first operation relied purely on gifts and traps.

The result was a total success!

Over 300 people against more than 30 thousand zombies.

It was a complete wipeout.

The first battle ended in victory.

“Captain Reid… Are we done?” Scarlett stared at the mountains of zombie corpses in front of her, stunned.

“This is just the beginning.” Hayley reached out and patted Scarlett on the head. “Everyone, clean up the site. Be careful. Tomorrow, we move into the neighborhoods one by one.”

With Hayley’s orders, the team immediately spread out to handle the aftermath.

Cleanup was simple. They doused everything in gasoline, then lit a fire and burned everything.

If any half-dead zombies were still twitching, they went in and finished them off one by one.

They worked fast but carefully.

Hayley sat on the roof of a vehicle, rubbing her temples, when two bottles of water were handed to her at the same time

She looked up and saw the two men standing in front of her.

Milo and Liam.

Both were offering her water.

Then, a third one appeared.

“Captain Reid, have some water.” Scarlett held out another bottle

Hayley looked at the three bottles

She took all of them.

It was her supplies, anyway. No need to be polite

One by one, she gathered them up, then spoke with the air of a proper commander

“Good work today, everyone.”

Liam and Milo were silent.

“You, too!” Starlett was the only one answering happily. “I really like going on missions with you, Captain Reid.”

Hayley gave her a firm paron the shoulder. “Good attitude. You’ve got potential.”

“Oh, right,” Scarlett added quickly. “Malcolm asked me to check with you. We wanna buy a batch of evolution serum today. Is that okay?”

“Sure. I’ll get it to you when we get back. Ten crystal cores per vial.”

Scarlett was so excited that she nearly hugged Hayley.

They had known about the evolution serum for a long time. They had even bought it before from Alex.

After what happened at the granary, Alex had walked away empty-handed and started looking for other ways to profit.

He quickly turned to selling evolution serum to any base that had food.

He traded one vial for 1,000 pounds of grain.

It was outrageously expensive, but smaller bases desperate for what only Hope Base had could only grit their teeth and pay up.
