Chapter 271
Hayley led her people through two whole days of nonstop fighting inside the tunnels.
Using the underground passages, they successfully lured in every zombie within about a quarter mile of Timberfall and wiped
them out in waves.
Alex had no idea they had discovered Timberfall’s hidden tunnels.
Everyone stayed underground, splitting up between entrances and launching ambushes. When things got risky, they pulled back into the tunnels and popped out from a different exit to keep fighting.
Because of that, this city recapture was unexpectedly easy; so easy that not a single person was injured.
And they never had to return to base, either. They hid in the tunnels and even kept working at night.
With that strategy, Hayley took another district, and a crucial one at that.
From now on, Timberfall’s tunnel would be their permanent foothold for pushing into the northern sector.
After securing the area, Hayley had the main group clear out supplies from Timberfall.
Timberfall was packed with shops, so the loot was massive. It put the nearly empty buildings in the High–Tech District to shame
There were coffee shops, souvenir stores, ceramic boutiques, specialty jewelry shops, clothing stores, and, of course, some minimarts and supermarkets.
But eight months had passed since the outbreak. Anything with a short shelf life was gone. Only long–lasting goods could still be collected, such as bottled water, instant noodles, packaged snacks, chips, crackers, jerky, and other dried foods.
Because Timberfall was a tourist strip, there weren’t many staples. Most of what she found were packaged treats and local specialties.
This worked perfectly for Hayley. She had plenty of staple food/What she lacked were snacks and dry goods.
This time, the haul was enormous.
While everyone else cleaned up Timberfall, Hayley headed out to Brightreach Pharma.
“Boss, I’ll go with you,” Leonard said immediately when he saw her preparing to leave.
“No need. I’ll be quick. If anything happens, I can get out easier.”
Brightreach Pharma wasn’t far. It sat right on the outer edge of their cleared zone. With her telepostation gifts, Hayley contie escape anytime if a horde appeared.
She was just picking up supplies, not fighting. Two people would draw attention Going alone was better
Leonard still looked worried. “Be careful.”
“Get back to work. Make sure the inventory is right,” she said
“Got it.”
Hayley walked off alone toward Brightreach Pharma with her saber on her back
Once she left the Timberfall zone, she reached a network of empty streets
The roads were silent and bleak. Snow was slowly melting, and thick ice sull lingered in the shadows
Occasionally, a few zombies would rush out, but under her mental pressure, each one was finished with a single sirke

She crossed a main road with a clear destination in mind
Across the street, she spotted Brightreach Pharma at a glance.
But there were a lot of zombies there.
“Raarh!”
