The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 293

Chapter 293

Hayley listened to Griffin’s over-the-top, die-à-thousand-deaths kind of oath, then glanced at his completely unmoving loyalty level, feeling speechless.

What kind of monster was this? Why couldn’t he say a single honest word?

Hell, anyone who believed him/would probably end up in a ditch and couldn’t see it coming!

“Screw off!” Hayley swung a punch at him.

Her car sped away, heading straight for her residential area.

She hadn’t been back in a long time, and this place had changed, too.

The first thing she saw was vast, continuous farmland. Automatic irrigation systems were steadily watering the crops under the scorching heat.

All the land that had been enhanced by system rewards showed excellent growth.

Production at the source was rock solid.

Over in the housing area, everyone was busy working nonstop.

The piglets each household raised were now plump and ready for processing. Fresh pork could be supplied continuously.

No more relying on old frozen stock.

As for chickens and ducks, their numbers had exploded. Now, residents of Haylight Base could eat a whole roast chicken at least

once a week.

With production becoming abundant, people in the residential area had started making higher-tier foods.

Things like fresh bread, cakes, savory meat pies, and baked rolls.

Not long ago, when Hayley was at the shelter, she had even eaten meat pies and freshly baked cakes they brought her.

“Ms. Reid is back!”

“Ms. Reid, you’re amazing!”

“We heard you took another district!”

“Ms. Reid, you’ve worked so hard!”

“Ms. Reid, we made some baked rolls. You have to come try them later!”

Hayley smiled lightly at the residents crowding around her.

It was around 5 p.m. The temperature was still brutal, pushing close to 100°F. Everyone wore short sleeves, fanning themselves with simple handheld fans.

Hayley remembered that during the city cleanup, they had recovered a huge batch of appliances, including tons of air conditioners. “In a few days, I’ll have Hayz put air conditioners up for distribution.”

Everyone’s eyes lit up, but then someone remembered something. “Ms. Reid, we don’t have enough electricity.”

Up until now, the residential area had relied on solar panels. Output was limited. With machines running production, almost all the power went to the equipment. People barely used electricity themselves.

Air conditioning was out of the question.

Hayley smiled. “Power won’t be an issue. From now off, everyone in Haylight Base will have unlimited electricity.”

They couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

Hayley picked five people from the residents, all well-educated and with the highest loyalty, and took them with her. She led them to the back mountain behind her shelter, a place no one had ever been allowed to enter.

A nuclear power plant already stood there.

Energy output instantly skyrocketed, and future production could ramp up even harder.

After finishing the energy upgrade, Hayley received a message from Hayz.
