The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 357

Chapter 357

Hayley sat in her chair without saying a word

She held a cup of fruit tea in her hand, eyes fixed on Alex’s laptop screen

In her mind, she kept weighing and recalculating.

At the end of the day, someone like her always thought in terms of gains and losses.

She first reviewed the chips she held. Over the past full year of the apocalypse, through careful planning step by step, she had built an ironclad shelter stronghold of her own.

That stronghold had abundant supplies and solid defensive power.

She had five core team members of her own and sixteen dogs. These were her most basic assets and her absolute foundation. They guaranteed that no matter what happened, her safety and supplies were

secured.

Beyond that, she had more than 80 residents. Those residents farmed thousands of acres of land for her, produced food and materials, and developed power systems. Their output was enough to sustain all the survivors they currently had.

On top of that, she led a league made up of nearly 20 bases.

Her league had over 3,000 combat-capable personnel, with ample weapons and ammunition. She had enough to stand against the zombie population of a city with millions of people.

She had reached the point where every base in the Eastern region looked up to her and came asking for

help.

From the very beginning, when it was just one person and one dog, to now commanding a massive league, every stage demanded a completely different level of thinking from Hayley.

As her power multiplied, the height from which she viewed problems rose just as sharply.

Back when she was alone with a single dog, the life or death of other bases had nothing to do with her.

But now, what she saw on Alex’s screen was vast stretches of deep purple-red zombie zones. Along the edges of that red, tiny white dots clung on, fragile yet stubborn.

Together, they formed layer after layer of defensive lines, invisible barriers slowing the outward spread of the zombie forces.

What Hayley had to face was no longer one or two zombies. What she was facing was the future tide of zombies, and the questions of how long she could survive and how much she could change in that tide.

As she stared at those deep crimson areas, she suddenly felt an invisible but overwhelming surge of momentum rising.

It was the momentum of humanity clashing with zombies across the entire Eastern region.

She understood the future better than Alex ever could. His computer simulations were limited by date She knew exactly how zombies would evolve

The entire Eastern region only had three cities. She could take Aecraton within a year But if, during that process, Brookville and Crestford could also be held in check, then it would be human ascension!

Hayley stared at the screen, her heart pounding hard in her chest.

Power was a constant tug-of-war.

On one side were humans, and on the other were zombies.

As human power grew, zombie power would inevitably be compressed.

Once human strength reached a certain level, it really could stand toe to toe with zombies. That moment would mark humanity’s rise.

Hayley’s mind raced, simulating timelines and changes over and over.

If she took Aecraton within one year, worked with Scott to confront the zombie forces in Crestford, and if all those small white dots could hold their ground… Then maybe it could actually work.

Humanity’s momentum could be changed.
