Chapter 422

Scott was truly stunned this time.

What the hell?

What was Griffin made of? Why wouldn’t the zombies bite him?

Right now, Scott felt like Hayley had flip

his

upside down all over again.

Hayley was a monster, and the people around her were monsters, too. They all looked ordinary, but not a single person by her side was simple.

In the blink of an eye, Scott’s base was letely surrounded by the zombie tide.

“Captain Fuller, I’ll be heading out now. You wouldn’t want everyone in your base to die, right?”

With two people slung over her shoulders, Hayley smiled faintly at him, then turned and ran straight for the helicopter without hesitation.

Scott stared, eyes wide.

He wanted to chase her like a madman and drag her back, but instead, he turned and plunged back into the fight to protect his base.

All he could do was watch as Hayley grabbed the rope ladder with her people. The helicopter flew straight into the zombie tide.

Amid a chorus of zombie screeches from the horde, the helicopter picked up Griffin as well and flew away.

As Scott fought desperately within the

zombie tide, the gentle expression on his face shattered completely.

He hacked at zombies with brutal, icy fury.

This was the biggest loss he had ever suffered. The most devastating trap he had ever fallen into.

All of his crystal cores were taken by Hayley.

Not only did she escape, but she also took two people from his base and her own follower with her, safe and sound. Worse still, she left his base surrounded by a zombie tide. Tomorrow Base had been utterly screwed by her. Furious, Scott cut down even more zombies.

At the very beginning, he had been confident. Every step had been steady and precise, all aimed at getting Haylight League to rescue them.

His plan had always been to swallow up Haylight League after they escaped, and he learned about the outside situation.

Before that, he had never revealed his claws. He had even handed over all his crystal cores to Hayley to show sincerity.

So where had it

gone

wrong?

How had all his careful schemes collapsed into nothing?

Hayley took his crystal cores, took his people, and crushed Tomorrow Base straight into the abyss with ruthless precision.

Scott couldn’t figure it out. He kept slaughtering zombies while staring at the helicopter disappearing into the distance.

Hayley Reid. He burned her name into his memory.

“Boss, does this mean Tomorrow Base is finished?” Leonard asked as he piloted the helicopter.

Hayley looked down at the people and zombies locked in battle below.

“They won’t die out, but they won’t be a major threat anymore either.”

When she first met Tomorrow Base, they had over 800 people. Now, there were fewer than 200 left.

After this fight, Scott would probably be left with fewer than 100.

A tiger like that had its claws and legs broken ahead of time.

Hayley had never been a good person. Anyone who threatened her, she never showed them mercy.
