Chapter 442
Aileen rushed out carrying a tiny newborn, his body still slick with blood. Everyone immediately crowded around
her.
“Good thing you got the supplies here in time,” Aileen said excitedly. “Any later, and the baby wouldn’t have made it!”
Hearing that, everyone broke into quiet smiles of relief.
They swarmed around the baby all at once.
“Boy or girl?”
“Let me see!”
“Why does the baby look like that? It looks like a little old man.
“All babies look like that. What are you talking about?”
While everyone fussed over the baby, Matt rushed straight to Vanessa’s bed.
“Honey…” he began.
“How’s the baby?” she asked.
“The baby’s fine. We’re all fine.”
“Boy or girl?”
“I didn’t check.”
“You didn’t even look?”
“It doesn’t matter. Boy or girl, it’s our child. They’re the same to me. Honey, I swear I’ll protect you both,” Matt
said.
Seeing the joy filling the room, Hayley quietly led her people to the back.
Once she stepped aside, Raymond came over to her again.
“You mentioned a league earlier. What exactly is it?”
“It’s a human league I built in Aecraton,” Hayley said. “Fifty-eight bases united together.”
“Aecraton… The city?”
“Yes. We’ve already taken Aecraton.”
Raymond sucked in a sharp breath. He stared at Hayley in shock, mouth hanging open. It took him a long time before he finally spoke.
“If we join you, what would you need us to do?”
“You’re all mine workers, right?”
Raymond nodded. “Yes.”
“Join my base and become my residents. Mine resources for me,” Hayley said calmly. “In return, I’ll supply all

your daily needs.”
At that moment, waves crashed through Raymond’s chest.
Had he just seen humanity’s hope? Was it really possible to restart production, to return to something resembling the old order?
Three days later, Raymond witnessed the combat units that entered their mine.
The zombie hordes they had once viewed as unstoppable were wiped out with ease. The zombie pit at the foot of the mountain was erased under overwhelming firepower.
The groups of zombies on the mountain peak, which they had always avoided in fear, were completely cleared.
The old residential building at the base of the mountain was emptied in less than half a day.
What had once cost them countless sacrifices just to secure a small, barely safe activity zone was completely swept clean by these people in less than a single day.
Only then did Raymond truly understand Hayley’s strength.
While ordinary people were still struggling just to survive, someone like her had already begun organizing survivors and fighting back against the zombies.
That level of power was something he could only look up to.
