The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 446

Chapter 448

Chapter 446

Mid-September.

The Hearthfall holiday arrived.

Before Hearthfall arrived, Hayley’s first defensive line was officially completed.

She stood in her office, studying the map in front of her.

The first line of defense had started construction simultaneously from the south and the north. Each side stretched nearly six miles.

The massive wall had been designed by the base engineers after countless sleepless nights. They optimize save materials and time while still ensuring durability and strong offensive capability.

Both the northern and southern sections would continue to expand together. As construction advanced, the outpost bases outside would be gradually withdrawn behind the wall.

Those scattered white dots on the map would no longer fight alone.

They would no longer drift helplessly like debris in the zombie tides. They would move inside the defensive and stand together, holding back the zombies beyond the steel wall.

Once the first defensive line was fully completed, humanity would finally have a true physical frontline agair the undead.

By then, even if the zombie hordes from Brookville and Crestford surged in together, she wouldn’t be afraid.

Hayley had just received news that the southern section of the first line had been completed yesterday, and immediately faced a zombie wave.

And it had held up beautifully.

A satisfied smile curved across her face.

Keep going, Keep building!

Hayley was determined to turn Haylight League into the strongest survivor stronghold in the world.

After handling production issues and frontline logistics, Hayley finally found herself with a rare stretch of free time.

There was nothing urgent to do,

She stood by the window, stretching lazily as she watched people bustling below.

That was when Liam came to find her

“Hayley.”

“What’s up?”

Liam watched her stretch under the bright sunlight. His Adam’s apple shifted slightly, and for once, he sounded a

bit nervous.

“Today’s Hearthfall. Do you. Do you have any plans?”

“It’s Hearthfall already?” Hayley paused, only then realizing how fast time had passed

“Yeah.” Liam nodded. “My grandpa’s making dinner at home and wanted to invite you.”

“Why would I go? That’s your grandpa. I should be with Aunt Ruby.”

“He’s also your godbrother. You made it official, remember?”

Hayley stared at him, stunned.

Did they?

“I still need to spend it with Aunt Ruby,” she said.

“I invited her, too. She’s coming,” Liam said quickly.

Hayley thought it over for a moment. “She said yes?”

“She did.”

“Alright, then. I’ll go.”

Hayley nodded.

The moment Liam heard her answer, his mood visibly lifted, and he turned to leave.

“Captain Caldwell, you look pretty happy today,” Alex said as he passed by.
